How much sleep do you get

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 4:20 pm

Lately I have been getting a lot less sleep than I normally do. I am out of school and currently looking for a job so my schedule isn't very restrictive. This has allowed me to normally get 9+ hours of sleep no problem. However, lately I have been waking up not too long after going to sleep(roughly 2-3 hours), and feeling fine afterwards, simply choosing to stay awake at that point. Coming off of the amount of sleep I am used to getting in turn for only of couple hours is a major difference, but strangely enough it seems to be working for me. So what about you guys? How much sleep do you guys usually end up getting, and do you feel it is enough?

Generally between 7.5 and 8.5 I'd say

I feel like utter crap when I get less than 5.5 hours.

3-8 hours depending on how tired and/or busy I am.

Try to sleep at least 6 hours however.

Not more than 6 hours, usually. It would be a problem if I couldn't sleep in during the weekend, but I get about 8-9 hours then, so I'm all good.

Although I get about 8 hours most nights, I'm better on 6~. On a day off, I'll often sleep 10 hours, and I'll feel horrible all day.

My sleep schedule is all out of whack right now so anywhere from 3-10 hours. The past few days I've slept for a few hours, stayed up a few more, go back to sleep, etc. I can't stand it, but when there are multiple alarm clocks in your house, all of which failing to wake up the intended person, it's hard to keep any kind of schedule at all.

Eight to ten hours, depending on what I did before. One of those big pluses of working freelance, I always get as much sleep as I need. Well, unless I'm ill or something.

5 hours generally. More on the weekends, but less when I get paranoid about something.

On a work night, between 6 and 7 hours. However I love my bed and will easily sleep in at weekends - although I'm really just dozing while listening to the radio. Anything less than 6 hours and I tend to feel tired all day.
I used to manage on a couple of hours - or even go to work having not slept at all. I must be getting old.

Typically about six hours. Not because of being busy, but my body just doesn't seem to sleep any longer, regardless of how tired I am. Eight hours is an uncommon maximum in ideal conditions. The hours I get aren't very good, since I'm an extremely light sleeper, and wake up frequently during the night at the slightest noise or light.

Anywhere between 2 and 6 on weekdays. I make up for it by sleeping 10-12 on weekends.

University = not a whole lot of sleep. I'm either working, or hanging out with friends during the nights. Still though, most weekdays I'll end up getting to sleep around three-ish and waking up at eight for my consistent nine-a.m.'s. I think that's enough sleep.

Not enough - only about 6 or 7 hours. I do usually take an afternoon nap though. Actually, that's probably why I don't sleep as much at night but its a viscous cycle. I can't function late in the day without my little nap!

Usually about 4-5 hours. Though tonight I plan on getting about 7 or so because I have a very long test to take tomorrow. (A+ 702 certification)

It usually depends, but I will always make sure I get atleast 6 to 7 hrs of sleep sometimes up to 10hrs of sleep if I need to do something major. (Hitting the sac at 10pm getting up at 7 to 8am)

One thing I find is that I cannot go back to sleep if it is 6 am because if I do and wake up again I feel like crap.

Weeknights-5-9 hours depending on the day, 6th form leaves me with a rather flexible schedule.
Weekends-7-10 hours, usually wake up after 7, realise I have nowhere to be and fall back to sleep for a few more hours.

Anywhere from 4-10 hours during the week. Depends on if I get up, sleep the whole day until work etc. Sometimes, like today, I'll stay up most of the morning into the afternoon and only get a few hours of sleep so I can do stuff I wanna do. Then tomorrow I'll either do the same thing or sleep most of the day or wake up in the afternoon. On the weekends I sleep anywhere from 8-15 hours. Friday's are always 12+, Saturdays sometimes 8, sometimes 10..changes. Then I take a nap on Sundays if I wake up to early in the morning, usually only for a couple hours..then I feel like crap. Kind of like I'll feel today.

Usually my schedule goes:

Monday= Sleep all day or sleep until 2-4pm, usually 4 pm and then I just stay sleeping if I'm too tired to wake up and don't have any obligations before work.
Tuesday= Stay up all morning, usually until 2 pm most of the time, sometimes 3 or 4 pm depending on what I'm doing and if I bought a new game or rented one. Very rarely I'll sleep in the mornings and do a Monday.
Wednesday is either the same as Tuesday or like a Monday but I try to wake up 2-4 pm more often than not, sometimes I'll let myself go till 6, sometimes till I have to go to work.
Thursday I usually try to always stay up until at least 12 or 1 so I sleep most of the day, like with all the weekdays, sometimes I'll pull a Monday and sleep on Thursday too. During golf season I always sleep in the mornings on Thursday's cause I got a league in the afternoon.
Friday I'm off, so I come home and usually stay up till 1-5 pm (sometimes later, sometimes not) and then sleep till Saturday morning. There are occasions where I can't do that but most of the time that's what happens.
Saturday I usually stay up until 9 pm or later so I can sleep late on Sunday..which almost never happens. I tend to wake up 6-8 am no matter when I go to bed (unless I go to bed at that time of course) and then I'm too tired for work so take a nap that doesn't help (last week though, got 5 hour nap and it was better than nothing).

So yeah as you can see, I have absolutely no schedule for sleep. If I had to say one, Friday and Monday are the most consistent, with sleeping at least.. I know I'm always gonna be sleeping at sometime in the afternoon on Friday and sometime in the morning on Monday (usually before 8am). When I wake up however is entirely different. So I can't plan ahead for anything, cause my sleeping habits change on how I feel by the day.

About 10 hours if nothing wakes me up. I've heard that 7 hours is the most healthy amount.
