How much time did you put into OB and MW?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:02 am

Alright, I love both Oblivion and Morrowind dearly, and I also love these forums, and I always see forums suggesting new things for TES:V, or comparing them, and whatnot.

One thread I've never seen is one asking how long you have played them, so I decided to post one.

So please, vote in the poll.

And also, as soon as I notice this thread turning into a Morrowind vs. Oblivion thread, I will request this thread to be closed.

Also, if you would like to discuss your favorite part of one or both games, go ahead, but please, put all spoilers in spoiler tags.

I would like to start by saying I put 101-200 Hours into Oblivion, and 1-100 Hours into Morrowind. I didn't get to far into Morrowind yet because I don't have as much time to play Morrowind, and I recently started playing it. But I still play it alot.

EDIT: New question was added.
And also, there is no thread for an individual poll for Morrowind and Oblivion, so please, your total time in BOTH of them.

PLEASE GUESS AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE!

I put around 100 - 200 into Oblivion and 300 - 400 into Morrowind. I'm one of those who played Morrowind first and, after getting over the starting troubles, really loved it. Played it for 3 months before even looking into mods and doing that really pushed it further.
For Oblivion, while I enjoyed it, i never really got as far into it. Though i re-play it about half a year ago i still didn't get as much total time played together, mostly because i didn't find the quest mods for Oblivion too great, there are some outstanding ones like the "Archeologists guild" that ad a full new fully voice acted quest liine but others where still missing. Things like "Havish" which i will always praise as being on of the smallest (only about 4 mb in size) and yet biggest mods i have ever seen as it added a questline that could rival the main quest of Morrowind.

I put 1-100 hours on MW and 101-200 hours on Oblivion. First I played Oblivion on PS3, and did every guild, most quests and the main quest there. Then I bought it for PC and got mods, and am still going strong, not being close to getting tired of it.

MW I have enjoyed immensly, but I don't like it as much as Oblivion, and there is still loads I haven't done in MW, and I have only started with mods there really. (Just finished my first mod, and if I include all the hours I've spent testing it, that might heighten the number a bit. :P ).

Yeah... My total for both is probably in the thousands of hours. :embarrass:

I mean, the summer before I was of eligible age to work, I played Morrowind for 8 or 9 hours a day, every day, for about 3 months. That's 700+ hours right there, for just one summer.
And with Oblivion, I logged 50 hours into my first char in the first 7 days I owned the game. While I had to work during the summers with Oblivion, I still have put in at least 200 hours for the 3 or 4 major characters I've had in the 3 years it's been out.

Played Oblivion first. It was my first game that I could essentially "do anything" and I loved it. Put multiple hundreds into it, at least 200 if not more. Then I played Morrowind which I liked even more and probably put near the same amount of time on if not more.

about 150 for oblivion...and probably more than a thousand hours for morrowind. i like oblivion, but there's just so much to do in morrowind and oblivion gets boring after a while, imo

about 100 in oblivion in terms of actual playtime, plus god knows how long testing mods. morrowind took years off my life, i'd say 300 hours at least, probably a lot more. not sure exactly, i had to reinstall my game a couple of times.

400+ hours each on a single character in MW and Oblivion and I've run a lot of characters especially with MW.
Only about 100 hours in Daggerfall but I'm still on my first character there.

I've given years to both, so I voted the highest figures for both. Especially if modding counts. Actually I would like to know myself if I spent more time playing Oblivion or modelling for it.

1-100 is a bit much, but at least 24 hours, My guess would be about... 50-70 hours.

Morrowind: Far beyond 400, played it as soon as I got home from school when I first got it 2002 and played it until about 10PM each day for about 3 years then I took a break from it and then I have been playing it about at least once a week for about 5 hours so you do the math. :P It's FAR to much.

I've only played vanilla Morrowind and Oblivion, but it was probably 100-200 hours each. For me, that's a long time to keep a game installed -- comparable to the hours I spent on Baldur's Gate II/Throne of Bhaal. The fact that I never left these official forums, though, shows how much I enjoy TES' mythology.

How do you keep interested in a game for 400 hours or more? You guys must have explored every inch of the gameworlds.

That poll needs to have larger increments. I have a feeling that most people here put far more then 400 hours into these games. I know I did. You need 1000+, 2000+ etc. 400 hours is good time frame for a single character IMO.

Over 400 hours for Oblivion, with one character. If I counted my other one, I'd be up to about 500 hours. And if you counted all the gametime I spent before it crashed, I'd say I'd be up to 1000

That's what I spent the summer of 2004 doing, exactly :) .

About 200-300 hours for Oblivion, 200-300 for the construction set, 1000+ for Morrowind and I'm replaying it now.

Clocked up well over 600 hours on Oblivion so far. Tried Morrowind but couldn't get into it, only played it for maybe 6 hours tops.
