How much time did you spend on your Face?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:06 pm

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm VERY detail oriented and like things perfect. I spent at least a full hour and a half manipulating my face, moving sliders around until it was perfect. I actually went in the bathroom (for good lighting conditions) and took a lot of photos of my face at different angles. From the front, close up of my jaw, mouth, etc. I then used Exposé and got everything JUST right. :)

I saved at the Sewer door so I could go back after leaving to get it just right. It's important to leave the Sewer to see how your face looks in the daylight. I went back and forth reloading and leaving the sewers like ten times, saying "Nope, still not right, 'this' or 'that' STILL isn't right", etc, etc.

The hardest thing for me to get right was my skin tone (I'm quite pale) and my lips. Well now my character looks almost EXACTLY like me... well pretty close.

Did you guys spend hours? I'm sure some folks who chose to be an Orc, Khajiit, or Argonian didn't bother with the face too much though.

I don't make my characters' faces resemble me. It's not me in the game, it's my character. :P

But I do spend a lot of time on character faces, just to make them look the way I envisioned the character when I was planning it.

It usually takes me from 15 to 30 minutes before I'm done with the face. Maybe less time if I get it right the 1st time.

2-3 minutes usually.

I tend to just stick with default faces, moving one or two sliders so I feel less lazy.

I do not want to play as myself. I do that already in real life.

I can take a while making faces. I typically start by spending a few minutes cycling through random faces until I get to one that is close to what I like. Then I start tweaking the sliders. Typically I spend around 15-20 minutes after that until I get it to where I like it. Then later as I play the game will tweak it a little here and there.

I have tried to make a character that looks like myself before, but I could not get the eye color and facial build right. I usually spend at least ten miutes adjusting shape sliders to create a character that I will play.

I don't play as myself either so I have no reason to try to recreate myself in the game.

I can spend anywhere from an hour to two days getting a character's face to fit my mental image of that character. By the time I start playing a game I've usually spent a month or more with the character: writing a personal history, creating a house mod that reflects that character's personality, putting together a mod list that will support that character, etc. By the time I get to the chargen sliders I have in my imagination a pretty vivid picture of what that character should look like. And it can take a fair amount of time and patience to reproduce.

But I like it. To me, making my character's face is a third mini-game. ;)

0 minutes. I just take the preset, because characters in Oblivion look like ass anyway, why bother.

I originally spent about an hour or so on Buffy's face. Here she is when she first began her career - pure vanilla: http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/Buffy%20I/ScreenShot64.jpg

Later, I added some mods to change her hair, eyes and slightly smooth her complexion. I have also occasionally done some very minor tweaking with the command console's race menu. Throughout, I have tried not to make a beauty queen, but rather to keep her very face very close to the original.

Now with over 600 hours of play behind us, she looks like the screenshot down in our signature. As you can see, very much the same elf. Just a simple girl from Bravil. :)

That's pretty much been my strategy as well. Except for the in-game tweaking as I'm a PS3 user.

I don't try to make the character look like me, but my first time playing I spent probably an hour getting my character just the way I wanted it. Now I randomize it till I get something I kind of like and tweak it until its good. Takes like 5 minutes, I do this because I barely ever see their faces anyway and I get impatient and just want to play :D

Yeah, I've never made a character resemble myself and never would. That would just be...creepy, to me at least. :P

I typically spend about 5-10 minutes on the face. Sometimes after playing a while I'll look at it and decide I don't like how it looks from a certain angle and use showracemenu to fix it until I'm happy, which again, is only 5-10 minutes tops. I've made some pretty attractive looking characters too.

What my character looks like is very important to me. I typically play in third person and I enjoy a game more if I like the character I'm looking at it. I never wear helmets and during times that I'm just running from point A to point B, I like to manipulate the camera so it's in front of my character and I can see what he/she looks like.

I don't spend much time, I have a mod that makes NPCs look better, and in turn makes the PC's face look great right off the bat.

I used to, but then I realized all the faces are equally ugly. Now I simply use the defaults.

I average about an hour per face. With loving care. I spend more time if I'm making a female character. Often the first gaming session for a character is solely the face construction. I gotta look at him/her all game, it WILL be how I envision it, and usually, I can get there.

I made his eyes as large as possible and then pushed the mouth all they way up on HAPPY and slightly lightened his skin tone.

Looks nothing like me, nor is close to what I am, in my opinion putting yourself in an RPG game is a bad omen (I never play a bard.) I Dont spend too long though like many I make my character as young as possible. It's hard to be a late-starter in this unforgiving world. Is there a mod which ages your character in game-time?

I spend 4 minutes a week on my face. Shaving.

I tried on Mass Effect for 30 minutes. It looks like someone else.

If try to give your to character your face, all your characters should look the same. So, why don't you import faces from a previous character using Wrye bash? Considering that as you had stated making your character face takes you more than an hour, it would save you a lot of time. You could even use an entire day to make the perfect face for all your future characters.
