How much time you think it will take you to completely finis

Post » Mon Aug 08, 2011 12:55 am

How much time do you reckon it will take you to completely finish skyrim ? and how much did it take you to completely finish , Oblivion , Morrowind and Fallout 3 , and by that I mean Complete all quests , discover all locations and acquire all equipment (weapons , armor , special jewelery etc ...) Without any content mods and only on one Playthrough .

I personally played Oblivion for more than 350 hours on one playthrough and I haven't finished it completely .
I completely finished Fallout 3 however in about 85 hours .

Note : I didn't use the same choices for fallout 3 because I do believe it's a lot shorter than Oblivion or Morrowind .

EDIT : added a new question ....
I personally think fallout 3 new Vegas to be the shortest game of the series , possibly because it wasn't developed by Bethesda Game Studios ....

Vanilla? I bet between 100 and 300 hours.

Modded? Several years. If there's even a time limit you can put.

It's no exageration to say that I've invested thousands of hours into Morrowind. And I still haven't found everything.

Not at all. I've played thousand of hours to Oblivion, and I'll surely have explored only about 40% of Vanilla dungeons...

I agree that I cant really say I will stop until a new game comes out. I just recently stopped playing Modded Oblivion for a few reasons 1. Skyrim is soon to be released, 2. I have spent time working on my modding skills, 3. Real life activities. On top of all that I like to start over and play as new characters.

not exactly 100%ing , just finding all locations , completing all quests and acquiring all legendary/epic gear .

After seeing the Quakecon footage and how absolutely DETAILED the environments are... I wouldn't be surprised if I spent over 400 hours just exploring, hunting, etc. And that's vanilla. I imagine I will put in around 2000 hours on my 4+ characters i have mapped out. And that's still on vanilla. Next year when I get my pc I'm sure I will be playing til TES:VI.

Skyrim seems to have a much greater replay value than Oblivion and Morrowind considering the following:

  • *280 perks to choose from, making the second, third, fourth playthroughs more fun
  • *20+ dragon shouts with 3 different levels for 60+ shout effects, making it more fun to play pure warrior or pure stealth characters who don't use magic
  • *10 races with revamped character designs, making it a bit more fun to play new races
  • *deep and quite different crafting systems for warrior, stealth or mage playthroughs
  • *Radiant Story feature which alters each playthrough
  • *Joinable Rebel faction, suggesting different outcomes for the Civil War
  • *Many more features in the vanilla game allows for some truly ambitious mods!

Based on this info, I'm estimating (personally) 5-10 playthroughs of around 300-500 hours each, spread out over a period of several years. The first playthrough, I imagine probably 300 - 500 hours.

Well, I finally 100'ed Oblivion after 4 years. Or I though so, when some new cool questmods were released and forced me to create a new char  . Now I'm again at 100% (no new interesting questmods as far as I know), and with http://www.tesnexus.com/imageshare/images/229639-1308736266.jpg already deceased, I doubt I'll return. Anytime soon, at least.

Besides, i'm reserving myself for Skyrim :D

Well the poll is mainly about single playthroughs , if you count all playthroughs you can easily play the game for infinity ....

Yeah I agree I think a single playthrough wouldn't take more than 500 hours .

I think people must be mis-reading that as "what is the longest game"

that's the only explanation I can think of.

IMO New Vegas was much longer than FO3 and Oblivion was much longer than New Vegas.

I completely finished New vegas in about 70 hours .. that's shorter than Fallout 3 which took me more than 80 , without any mods of course .
How much did it take you to finish New Vegas and FO3 ?

My first playthrough of New Vegas (vanilla, no DLC) took just under 200 hours. (hardcoe mode + Very Hard) I didn't finish exploring all the locations or completing all the quests.

My first playthrough of FO3, including some DLC, took around 140 hours.

EDIT: actually, my New Vegas playthrough wasn't vanilla - I forgot that I had installed Expensive Wasteland (increases all merchant prices by 5x) and Harder hardcoe Rates (gives hardcoe Mode some teeth, so you actually run out of food and water frequently).

Vanilla - under 100 hours - even if I don't see absolutely everything I'll see majority of the world, and likely get bored with it - dungeon crawling for the sake of the dungeon crawling is not my thing.
With mods? Can be up to a 1000 hours - mods add enough "spice" and verity for me to be kept interested.

Did you play FO3 on very hard as well ?
It was probably the hardcoe mode that slowed you down in FONV .
I personally think FO3 has a bit more content than FONV . Because FO3 definitely felt longer to me .

Oblivion: I've been playing since 2007, I'm maybe 55~65% done. Skyrim should take long enough for Elder Scrolls VI to come out.
But in reality, I'll probably never finish every single thing there is to do.

I doubt I'll ever 'completely' finish Skyrim. I don't generally play evil characters and so don't complete content designed for them. In Oblivion I never completed the thieves guild or assassins guild quest lines, for example. In Fallout 3, I never blew up Megaton. In New Vegas, I never played a game where I didn't kill (or try to kill) Caesar's Legion on sight.
