How much do you abuse the game to get something

Post » Sun Sep 27, 2009 7:45 am

I rarely if ever make use of these exploits. Sometimes I make a few rules for myself, but most of the times that isn't necessary. I have only ever seen the mudcrab merchant once, because I wanted to see a talking mudcrab, didn't sell anything to him. Alchemy and soultrap have been tried out but only because I wanted to see what the fuss was all about and how it worked. It was fun playing around with, but I'd never use it with a character I'm actually playing.

I use the Creeper for stuff that's worth like 5000+ gold, but that's the extent. Don't use the soultrap glitch, alchemy glitch, the mudcrab merchant, and I don't do the sell/buy/resell thing. I don't purposely take my characters to go get high-level loot, unless they're already in the area.

I don't use mudcrab, but will deliberately make trips to Mournhold to sell high-value wares to the rich mechants every ~48hr in game time. If that bloodly assassin is going to attack me at level 5, then you can sure-as-heck bet I'm gonna use Mournhold services. I don't use creeper. I will sell homebrew potions to vendors very early on, when I need to fund the ingredients for potions I actually need. Once I'm self-sufficient, no more potions to vendors. No soultrap glitch. The one 'fix' in the MCP that I don't enable is the one that allows wildlife to damage your armor. I like to train up medium/heavy armor in Seyda Neen with fishies nibbling my toes in the water (drinking homemade restore health potions the while), and if they were damaging my armor... that would svck. I play at 100 difficulty from the beginning, so I'm willing to work the powergaming mojo occasionally, even while sticking to strict RP rules for a given character.

I use a lot of cheats. For example:
-Buy buttloads of Bloats and Ash Yams in Wolverine Hall and get your intelligence up to about 20,000
-Buy some spells to Drain Skill 100 pts (use 2 effects for 200 pts if you are Atronach) for 1 second, and use it to train your skills up to 100 for free. You can gain like 30 levels this way pretty easily.
-Once your conjuration is up to 100 you should cast permanent summons (explotiing the Target Glitch) to get nice equipment. Golden Saints and Dremoras are the best.
-After you have some nice equipment like Daedric Tower Shields and Ebony Staffs, and have Azura's star, it's time to craft enchanted items. Use the Target Glitch, Reverse Variable Magnitude glitch, and two-stage item tempering for best results.
-You can get 5 exquisite rings in Salothran Ancestral Tomb which will help you make good enchantments http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Salothran_Ancestral_Tomb
-Use item duplication tricks to make lots of nice items. The Daedringer and Executioner rings are useful here. You can fix your encumbrance by using Target Glitch and Burden/Feather spells.

Vanilla MW is not a hard game. In fact it's pretty easy, especially with a decent Class. Exploiting stuff in the game would only make it even easier until it's pointless. I go out of my way to make the game harder for myself with mods, house rules, etc.

I feel like exploiting and abusing a game is cheating, so I don't do it because it I think it takes away from the game.

I've never used the Soultrap-glitch, and never abused Alchemy.
I use Creeper, but the Mudcrab is too inconvenient to get to. So if I have something worth over 5000 gold, I'll usually just collect it instead of selling.
I use Trainers on occasion, to get a 4 or 5 multiplier, but I usually forgot about them overall.

But I don't think that using exploits is a cheat, since this is a one-player game and whatever makes you have fun is all that counts.

I have trained skills from 30 to 100 before, I guess that counts as abusing (but you gotta spend all that gold or something).
I never used an alchemy character so I have never had a chance to abuse alchemy.
I do use creeper and mudcrab.

I never use exploits or glitches, but trainers/training are part of the game so are not an abuse, unless overused. I rarely use trainers because I can never remember where they are but I think it's fine to use them to an extent - that's why they are in the game. Again I will occasionally use Creeper but don't run back and forth buying and selling to make loads of money. I never touch the alchemy exploits at all.

I never intentionally use loopholes, or never use them as such. I just view everything from in-game and use the advantages I see it gives me, loophole or not.
I really only use Creeper as a bank of sorts to deposit and later retrieve items, since he buys and sells at the same value anyway.

Nope, never abuse, only roleplay.
And no Mudcrab/Creeper

If i can't get something without exploits, then i won't be taking it.
No point really.

Is there any point to spend 40 days selling heavy loot to Mudcrab, to get your 300k gold? What then? train to be a god-like? Yay.
Im trying to earn gold the honest way, which is usually not much, but gold will have some value then, especially, when my game is heavilly modded (various "balancing" mods)
And ofcourse "honest way" could mean different things- if i'd play Thief, then stealing would be honest too

Yeah, i learned to appreciate money

I do not use exploits. It just makes the game too easy, and ruins all the fun. No thanks.

I use sell-buyback with Creeper, and I find the mine on my way to Balmora to get the Daedric weapon. Other than that, I rarely break the game.
