How much do you play Skyrim nowadays?

Post » Fri Nov 22, 2013 9:19 am

Skyrim has now been out for just over 2 years and I'd be interested to know how often people are playing now.

How many hours a week do you play?

How long is your average session?

Whens your favourite time to play, morning, afternoon, night or anytime will do?

What format do you use, do you play on a monitor, giant tv or other?

Do you wear headphones?

What's your ideal Skyrim session, ie late at night with a pizza and a couple of beers, soft drinks and nacho's etc?

Where do you play, on a chair, beanbag, bed, floor, standing on your head etc?

I havn't played Skyrim for a few months now as I have been playing Oblivion, probably play about 15-25 hours a week. Once I have finished my current play through I will create a new character for Skyrim and get back into it. Prefer to play at night on a wide screen tv via xbox 360. Use headphones about 50% of the time and my favourite sessions are at weekends late at nite with a few snacks in easy reach whilst sitting in a big comfy leather armchair.

So how do you play?

I haven't played Skyrim since mid September.

When I did play, maybe around 2-6 hours a day if possible. I usually play on the weekends, and every once in a while during the week.

Usually in the afternoon when I would get home.

I'm on PS3, so I play on my 60" TV.

I wear a headset. A relative bought me some Turtle Beaches. They're pretty good.

I like to have me some Dominoes Pizza and some Coca Cola when I can. Usually in the afternoon.

I play on my comfy chair.

I have played Skyrim almost every day since I got it on 11/11/11.

Usually I start playing after the mail run, about 12:30pm here, for by then morning chores are done, and any knitting I want to do is done, or any bread that needs to be made is finished.

I have my chair that I sit in, a single soft chair with a small table and a lamp with coffee or iced tea, with the xbox 360 hooked up to a 46/48" HD tv through an hdmi cable, with a fiber optic cable for surround sound. No headphones, but the surround sound is not turned up loud enough to rattle the windows. My setup in is the front room.

I usually play from 12:30pm to about 5/5:30pm at which time I fix dinner. I take breaks about every 45 minutes, although for dinner the tv goes off. Then after dinner it is back to Skyrim, except on Tuesday nights, when it is NCIS and NCIS LA time. When I do play, it is till about 9pm, at which time the tv goes off and this old person goes to get her beauty sleep.

I am still playing Skyrim.

  • full surround sound stereo system cranked high
  • in the morning with hot coffee is ideal...or late at night with a Guinness.

I prefer to do my gaming at night when it's not so bright out. Sometimes the glare is bad. I haven't played Skyrim in well over a year, besides a few months ago when I installed 1.9 and the DLC from Legendary. I played for a couple hours just to check out Legendary and make sure everything was installed and running fine. I am planning a Skyrim binge very soon though :) I'm going to create a new character and play all of this massive content DLC included. MQ, CW, Companions, CoW, TG, DB, Daedric quests, Bards College, Dragon Priest masks, side quests, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn. Yikes! That's a lot of content.

These are not hard and fast "rules", if you will. My favorite time to play is at night after Mrs. Jabber has retired for the evening. Usually, I have me time and I enjoy it the most then. Yes, a few advlt beverages are usually consumed, but I don't usually eat while playing. I can get two to three hours in like this on occasion.

Another situation that I really enjoy is taking the day off and having the house to myself. Fire up the box and game all day, take a break when Mrs. Jabber gets home and then jump back on later. During days like this, I usually stock up on crap that can be nuked for quick gaming fuel or try to have a good stash of left overs on hand. Also, sweet tea or soda/coke/whatever you wanna call it are consumed along with......

I have a big ole leather recliner in my livingroom in front of a 42" flat screen. That is where I like to game. When I'm alone or just me and one/both of the kids, I'll crank it through surround sound. At night, I use the TB headphones. On rare occasions when I'm just messing around and usually mildly under the influence, I'll plug in my phone and listen to some old Slayer, Maiden, Lamb of God or some such. Orc mosh!

As for average hours per week, I'm really not sure. Sometimes I game a lot, sometimes I may only get three hours in.

I didn't start playing until June 10, 2013, but since then I've averaged around 25 hours per week. I play for 4-6 hours per session with no preferred time of day (although I usually start playing in the afternoon and play until I'm ready to go to bed). I play on Xbox on a 60" TV. I don't use headphones; the sound comes through a speaker system my hubby hooked up to the TV. I don't eat while playing (if I get hungry, I'll take a break and grab something), but I do drink a lot of iced coffee and tea. For seating, I have an office chair adjusted just right which I roll in front of the TV.

Ideally, I would play a whole lot more, but I have a neurological issue with my hands that doesn't allow me to play more than I do now. I'm currently working with a neurologist to (hopefully) get that fixed. Once that happens, my dream is to get a PC hooked up to my TV and play modded Skyrim all day long.

Came back to Skyrim a month or so ago after a break, Currently playing every day for several hours so 15-20 hours per week. Average session 2-3 hours.

No particular time of the day or night.

Play on a monitor, don't use headphones.

Usual refreshment is a cup of tea and the ocasional ciggie break.

Sit on a chair at my desk.

I'm slowly getting back into it, though its tough. I'm kinda done with my current character. At level 31 he's a two-handed warrior - he's completed the main quest, and the Companions and is currently just wandering around trying to find stuff to do. I've just completed another radiant quest - save Faendal from the bandit cave (I don't even like him) - and am a bit stuck for ideas.

I generally play in the evenings, when I'm free, and not engrossed in ME3 Multiplayer. LCD TV and PS3, which has been a surprisingly stable platform considering all other Bethesda games go into freeze mode when you get to a high enough level.

But anyway, am enjoying the atmosphere and soundtrack as much as anything, its strangely relaxing.

Been playing it over the 2 years preety regular. Taking some break's to play newer games. Recently been distracted by Fallout, played New Vegas again. Recently bought FO1 & FO2. Will be back into Skyrim again once iv'e got other games out of my system.

When it was first out, i played it morning-evening, as much as possible. Now usually a more reserved late afternoon-evening when able.

I prefer the surround of headphones in this type of game, plus so it doesn't disturb others.

I play at a desk, swivel chair, wheee!!

No real drink or food that i have when playing. Usually just a routine cuppa tea & biscuits, so i usually read an in game book if i'm having a brew, to relax.

I've been playing since release night with small breaks here and there....still haven't come close to finishing GTA and yet I still prefer Skyrim. :tes:

I only get to game at night and I usually play an hour or 2, sometimes longer if life allows it.

I play xbox on my TV in the living room.

I recently started using headphones and boy do they make Skyrim feel like a whole new game...I don't know why I haven't tried them sooner but it makes the world feel more alive.

I don't understand why people eat while they play, it's gotta grease up your keyboard/controller and greasy controllers annoy me (sweaty handed friends svck ha).

I havent played Skyrim in almost a month, by far the longest Ive gone without it since I started playing (Jan '12). But when I'm in my Skyrim mood I would usually play mostly on weekends in the mornings between 5 and 8, then sporatically throughout the day. Working a full time job and part time in the evenings it's hard to play during the week, so I might get a few hours in here and there during the week.

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this! Sometimes I'll use some PTO at work just because I know I'll have the house to myself for 8 hours of straight Skyrim. LOVE IT!

How many hours a week do you play? Anywhere from 20-30.

How long is your average session? 3 hours. Seems like time just goes so quickly while playing Skyrim, so just an hour or two doesn't seem like enough.

Whens your favourite time to play, morning, afternoon, night or anytime will do? During the late hours of the night and into the morning, as I basically have a nocturnal schedule, due to my job. Or perhaps I'm a vampire. I don't know.

What format do you use, do you play on a monitor, giant tv or other? 55" LCD; PS3

Do you wear headphones? No. Unless I feel like listening to music while playing.

What's your ideal Skyrim session, ie late at night with a pizza and a couple of beers, soft drinks and nacho's etc? Just me, the game, sometimes music and usually a snack.

Where do you play, on a chair, beanbag, bed, floor, standing on your head etc? Sitting on the bed. Naked. Just kidding. But yeah, on the bed. While my room is spaceous enough, I don't really have room for a chair with maybe one too many pieces of furniture I have.

I play every day. Skyrim's one of those very rare games for me, in which I still want to play another whole playthough literally as soon as I complete the last.

Oh yes, already done the Civil War (we won!). :twirl:

I'm not going to do the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood or College of Winterhold because my character is a warrior type. He's not suddenly going to get all sneaky or learn magic - he hacks things with a big sword and leaves it at that. Just because its possible to do all these faction quests on one character doesn't mean we have to. But this is more of a general issue with Bethesda's design philosophy - ie connecting your character to the gameworld in a meaningful way, rather than it being a big theme park where you get to go on every ride.

But Dawnguard and Dragonborn are good, just haven't downloaded them yet. Have been testing the PS3 stability of my level 31 character with a bit of dungeon grinding (ie, core gameplay), before spending any money on DLC.
