How much do you think you'll spend on Skyrim?

Post » Wed Jan 12, 2011 12:02 pm

So with Oblivion, I bought the collector's edition of the original game, I later bought the Knights of the Nine DLC compilation pack, and also The Shivering Isles expansion. In addition to that I also purchased the official soundtrack off of the Elder Scrolls site.

So in total, my estimate is I spent about $150 on Oblivion and it was worth every cent!

With this in mind, I'll probably do the same thing with Skyrim. What can I say, I'm an Elder Scrolls junkie! :)

So how much do you think you will spend?

I spent much more on Morrowind than I did Oblivion.
I reckon I'll spend about 150 on Skyrim.

Most expensive collectors edition, all DLC. Don't care about the price.

50 bucks unless the PC version costs 60, which would be stupid.

A better question would be "How much time will I spend NOT on Skyrim?"

That would be easier to quantify.

If it keeps going down the road it's traveling (becoming less of an RPG and more of an Action-Adventure game), then I'll just wait 'till it sells for like $20 on Steam.

If it decides it wants to be an RPG again (meaning if I see any news which makes me excited for it and dashes all worries I have for it), $50.

All that collector stuff is nice, but what really matters to me is the game.

Oh yeah. Forgot about DLC. It may be more than $50 then DEPENDING on how the DLC's are.

Well i'll probably be buying the game (collectors edition if available) along with all the expansions that come out. Unless Skyrim turns out to be a tetris game with a viking background...

Anyway apart from the money i'll spent on the game i'll also need to buy a new computer. My old computer dated from about 2 months before oblivion came out, was able to run that game on max graphics with no problems but i'm afraid it passed on to hardware heaven :(. I'm thinking of waiting to buy a computer until about a month or two before the game comes out, that way i can make sure i get top notch quality. Don't really care about the price, i'll be using it all the time for a long time anyway.

Saying Skyrim will not be an RPG based on your ironclad definition of the term is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Buying collectors edition for sure.

However much for the CE and DLCs, plus I want to save up for a PC to play it on (never played PC before); the aim is to save £600 (I'm hoping that will be enough). So a helluva lot more than what I've paid for any other game! :P

Uh-huh. Didn't know opinions were discouraged on the boards... :spotted owl:

Then again, people always call out people's opinions if they aren't anywhere close to theirs.

Gotta love simple human nature.

The collectors edition (100$ I could totally see it) plus DLC. I will also just skip dragon age 2,mass effect 3 and crysis 2. Wait til there in the bargain bin or until EA gets their [censored] together. Crysis 2 was such a great COD clone. That it froze every time I went to play the demo.

I'm just tired of people throwing around the terms "RPG" and "Action-adventure". This is not 1995 where there were only "Action games" and "RPGs". The line between genres is greatly blurred and for good reason.

With mods? pfffffffff.......

I'll just say I've definitely quit both Morrowind and Oblivion those last christmas. And mostly because of lack of questmods (although some new, interesting ones surely have been released already...).

P.D: ah, I thought you meant time spent....my mistake. Money? What the game/DLC's/expansion-s costs.

I'll probably pre-order it in October for 60$, Then buy every DLC on their respective dates as they come. Unless, of course, the game is a complete failure. (Two Worlds)

Finances permitting after I buy a new computer, I'd like to buy the Collector's Edition. My first time purchasing an Elder Scrolls collector's edition at release and not off eBay four years later! :hehe:

Probably a collector's edition, and any particularly interesting/expansive DLC that becomes available (although I'd rather buy expansions). And including the cost of a new PC build - a ridiculous amount.

But I don't have kids, a significant other, or a social life to waste it on, and sun, sky and exercise are all free, so... :goodjob:

I've bought Oblivion twice, the original when it first came out on 360, then the Goty on PC. I also bought every piece of DLC day one for 360 so I don't know how much I spent. All together somewhere around $200. Maybe more. And I plan on buying the CE at some point. I always regretted not getting it at first.

So, with Skyrim. I'm going to buy the CE day one on 360. Anywhere between $80 - $130 depending on how ridiculous they go with it. I'm going to take Fo3 as the example and assume they will have something akin to the Survival edition. ($130) I'll be buying all the DLC day one, assuming we follow the trend of Oblivion/Fallout 3 of one major expansions and a few DLC's. I'd say that brings me up to around $200. Then at some point I'll probably buy the goty for PC so that's around $30 by that time, and I'll most likely download it from Games on Demand on x-box live when it's around $20. So, that brings my total estimated price of $250. And that's not counting any Skyrim merchandise they might sell.

probably going to try to buy most stuff, such as a collectors edition, all dlc, artbook, maybe a game guide and possibly the soundtrack.
i get about £10 a week, so i should have £400 by the time it releases, but im gonna buy other stuff to keep me occupied until the release (dragonage2, ect) but still i will keep £200 spare to spend on the game when its out and keep the rest for xmas spending

$60 plus whatever the DLC costs.

I never buy collector's editions. Waste of money.

I'll buy Skyrim off of Steam, probably cost me 49.95€ then if the DLC is any good and it comes out for PC I'll probably get that too :) I'm hoping for an expansion instead though.

Collector's edition is a must for me.
Then the dlc content: I'll be very picky. They must be good.
