How much of your first character have you already planned ou

Me thief, me sneaky. Khajiit with bow and shortswords. May use daggers if they have insanely sneak damage multipliers. Open combat only when I'm caught. Master of enchant, master of potions for sure. Morals? What morals? Chaotic evil.

Female breton erring on the short side and slim.
Main weapon will be a bow. Fall back will probably be a staff (assuming that they can actually be swung this time. If not then long sword).
Lots and lots of magic. In order of importance: illusion, destruction, alteration, restoration, conjuration.
Use stealth all the freaking time.
Only use open combat when it can't be avoided.
Utilitarian moral stance.
Everything she wears and uses will be enchanted.
More poisons than potions, but I have a feeling that magicka restore potions will be pretty invaluable.
No back story thought up yet. Will get around to it.

my character is a male nord who's going to be muscular and tall
I think i'll make him a hunter type character so he will focus on bows, blades and light armour and maybe a bit of h2h
i think i will use restoration only and avoid all other types (rp wise ill explain it through a village elder teaching him healing magic)
since my guys a hunter who knows how to stalk animals ill probably use it quite a lot, depending upon how well implemented it is
my character will resort to nearly everytime unless there is something to make it worth talking
my character most likely will keep his head down as he doesnt want to do more jail time, but morally he wont really be good or bad just self serving
once i find some decent weapons i think ill stick with for a decent stretch of time ill probably pay to get them enchanted
oh yeah my guy will be pretty good at alchemy(all that time in the wilds) so he will use potions to heal himslef and poison his foes :chaos:
my basic back story is that my guy is a hunter raised in the wilds, taught the skills he needed to survive but imbued with a strong moral compass( hence he only acts in a way that will help hmi survive/forward his position) selfishness FTW  other than that pretty extensive list i'll just let him develop naturally as I play, who knows he might develop some morals one day

I'm around 100 hundred pages (half) into the five volume story of my main character.

Edit:
Name, race:
[Krah] Wulf Arctreus, Imperial (role playing as Nede)
Primary skills(perks):
Illusion(general, all), conjuration(daedra), one-handed(blade), enchanting(weapon, scrolls), alteration(mysticism), smithing(weapons)
Minor skills (perks):
Speechcraft (barter, lying), Alchemy (-), Sneak (dagger)
Primarily avoids fighting, makes use of illusion and conjuration to do so. Can charm and lie his way out of any situation. Only fights(physically) with katana or bound daggers. Uses his smithing and enchanting maintain his katana.

Drinks and smokes a lot. Mostly a wanderer, doesn't care too much for riches or fame; just wants to be left to alone.

Also got extensive characterization planed out for my four side characters.

Since I don't know how the game is really going to begin (And I don't wish to know, in the same way that I have banned myself from watching anything Portal 2 related until I get it), so all I know is that my character will be Male.

I remember when I first started Oblivion, I started as an Argonian, regardless of my friend telling me not too, so I'm just going to go on a whim.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape?
A Female Khajiit With a small, thin build.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
I will primarily use a bow, and carry a shortsword for emergencies.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
Frequently, sometimes for offensively, but mostly in a passive manner that improves my survival rate. (chameleon while using stealth, for example)

How often you will use stealth?
Constantly.

How often you will resort to combat?
I'll tend to run from close quarters combat as much as possible.

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
Neutral-Good. I will try to do good deeds, but my needs come first.

How often you will rely on enchanted items?
Almost always, I believe in augmenting my abilities through magic and items.

And potions?
Very often, specifically poison.

Male.

Probably.

That's about it.

The only thing I'm even pondering is whether I'll play a Nord or not. In Morrowind, I play almost exclusively Dunmer, just because I feel they fit best. In Oblvion, I play anything and everything - I've got at least one character of every race and gender, and multiples of most of them.

If Skyrim seems most appropriate for a Nord (which it just might), then I'll be tempted to play one the first time through. If not.... I have no idea. I never really plan characters. I just come up with a basic outline that appeals to me - some combination of race and gender and inclination that seems like it would be particularly interesting or challenging - then just dive in and see how it works out.

I really need to see what, if any, differences there will be between the races and what, if any advantages or disadvantages one or another might have. I particularly enjoy playing characters who run against the grain - Orc mage, female Bosmer with a battle axe, Altmer heavy armor tank.... that sort of thing. Since it appears that there's not going to be much "grain" to run against in Skyrim, I have even less idea what I might be interested in playing.

If nothing else, I'll turn the game on, watch the opening, then just pick something.

Nothing, was just saying.
I always found it funny how every single Dunmer could tell my Dunmer maiden was an outlander.
Probably because she was sixier than all native Dunmer women... Oh well.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)
~A male Breton. 6' 1''. I want him to have the same body mass as the guy in the trailer.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
~I would use claymores if i was a melee type

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
~Very often, pretty much for everything, but mainly for combat.

How often you will use stealth?
~I don't really like stealth, but only when i feel to do so.

How often you will resort to combat?
~When necessary

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
~I am the quiet type who doesn't like getting in trouble. But i will do what is necessary.

How often you will rely on enchanted items?
~Not often

And potions?
~When ever i feel i need them

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).
~i'm not good at making up stories but i'll try thinking of something off the top of my head...

I am brought to jail because i was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, which then led to my execution. Being accused that i murdered some strangers best friend as i was on my way to exploring, then bumping into the conversation as the guard called me out. He told me i looked oddly familiar and i need to come with him for further questioning. He led me to the jail house, then sitting on a wooden chair, the guard explained the story but he accused me, i said otherwise, and tried convincing them that i am just an explorer, they didn't believe me and they restrained my magic somehow and they beat me and threw me in jail.

I am then lead to my execution after being in here for 5 weeks. Only mere weeks away i am to die, but i have other plans. I am not going to be executed for something i didn't do.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)Wood Elf. Male. 6' 5" tall :hehe:
How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.Mostly Archery and shortswords
How often you will use magic, and for what purpose? Not a major skill, but will use it a fair deal. Mainly Illusion and alteration
How often you will use stealth? Alot
How often you will resort to combat? As much as humanly possible
What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)Can't answer with absolute certainty, but a guess would be neutral
How often you will rely on enchanted items? In the early going, probably not going to worry about it. Later on will be enchanting several items
And potions? I'm gonna poison the holy hell out of some arrows.
And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).

My character:

Grimble Gromble: An immigrant in Skyrim, spent most of his time eating, sleeping, and drinking wine; but paying bills was not on his list of desirable activities. After multiple missed payments he was evicted from his home and shipped off to prison where he was to meet his end.

But ALAS!!! Grimble was about to embark on the grandest adventure of his life. But he still misses his tunic. Damn it looked good... scarlet with a blue green hood :hehe:

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around) - Nord, Male, quick and agile warrior.
How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more. - Duel-wielding swords, or sword/shield.
How often you will use magic, and for what purpose? - Only dragon shouts, no other forms of magic.
How often you will use stealth? - Not a lot, if any.
How often you will resort to combat? - He is not a criminal, but he will take anyone out that deserves it.
What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?) - Survival is what he knows, if he has to break the law to survive then so be it.
How often you will rely on enchanted items? - When ever I come across them :P.
And potions? - Health potions, only if he really needs them.
And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner). - My character seeks fame, he is believed to be one of the greatest warriors of all time, he does not believe in fighting for anyone else but himself and his honorable brothers in battle. He ended up rebelling against some corrupted powerful people and soon found himself in chains traveling across the border to Skyrim, but he knows that he would be free once again and his name would go down in history as one of the greatest warriors to ever live.

It will most likely be a tall and somewhat muscular (for an elf ^^) male Altmer battlemage with neutral-good and chaotic alignment. He will try to solve any conflict with words and if that fails use manly his magic abilities to beat his opponents but as a last resort will fight with short swords and daggers.

Male, Breton, lithe and agile (might consider a kitty cat, instead of breton though.)

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
One handed blade and bow. Probably use them a lot given the hack and/or slash nature of TES games.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
A lot - primarily alteration and illusion spells. Stealth and manipulation.

How often you will use stealth?
Frequently

How often you will resort to combat?

mine will be a strong nord male who prefers axe and shield
even though my magic pool will be awful i may use the occasional healing spell.
i am running into combat, no stealth
he will resort to combat against the wicked. ( and the occasional giant)
he will be a man of justice.killing anyone who stands as a criminal.
enchanted items- yes at least for armor- if weapons need to be recharge then no
i will use potions when i need to.
once a guard captain he came home to find his wife and child dead, he takes a vow to get justice for his family, using his skills he traces the killer, finding that it was a noblemen, he challenges him to a dual in a back ally of the imperial city killing him with a swift blow to the head with his axe. knowing the nobleman had guards on his payroll he flees to his home country Skyrim only to be caught at the border, and i start from there.

I'm just going to go by my traditional way to play an Elder Scrolls game

High Elf
Female
Warrior/Mage
Taken the lawful route

So I'll be playing with sword in one hand and spell in the other and just take it from there.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)

A male Nord of average size and shape. Nothing special with him really. I will name him Hjalti, in honor of Tiber Septim.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.

As a Nord, the only thing he's ever practised is weapons. A shield and a one handed sword is what he likes best, but axes and maces are a possibility as well. He's quite an "imperialized" Nord, and thus he's not that handy with weapons when the game starts.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?

The only magic he ever learned was a bit of restoration, to heal him whenever it was needed.

How often you will use stealth?

If death is not imminent and stealth is the only way out, never.

How often you will resort to combat?

When it is needed. With the lack of stealth the need will come quite often.

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)

My Nord will be a really pragmatic person. If there's no risk, why not commit the crime if it benefits you? He will not take lightly on murder though, as he finds people way to interesting to kill without good reason.

How often you will rely on enchanted items?

If I find them in loot or in stores, I will use them. I won't enchant myself.

And potions?

Same as with enchanted items.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).

Being a very restless person Hjalti has been roaming Cyrodiil for many years, doing a small job there, stealing something there and so on. The last years before being sent to Skyrim he spent in the Imperial City. His curious nature led him astray, and that together with his careless view on things made him hook up with the wrong people. He got drunk and insulted an Imperial officer one night. When the mans demands an apology, Hjalti, which normally would have obeyed directly as pride is something he regarded as foolish, refuses. When the officer tries to arrest him, one of Hjaltis so called "friends" knocks the man over. In the following brawl, several people gets stabbed, amongst them another guard that rushes in to thwart the riot. The officer with which Hjalti had his argument gets robbed blind. Hjaltis is knocked down by the barkeeper, and is pointed out as responsible by both the barkeeper and the officer.

After a short trial, Hjalti is thrown in prison. He is transported together with a unit of soldiers heading for Skyrim, were he is supposed to work for the Legion for the rest of his life, as slave labor. But due to unknown circumstances(propably the officers connection with the units commander) Hjalti ends up in an execution cell.

After being saved, Hjalti feels more alive than ever before. For the first time in his life, he feels that there might be something else to life than the simple entertainment that wine and women might provide. He want's to explore everything Skyrim has to offer, his pragmatic nature allowing him to do whatever he wants.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around) Imperial male thin with nice muscles and average height.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more. Nothing but weapons my first playthrough, straight up melee fighter using swords / axes haven't decided if I will be dual wielding, wielding a two hander, or just a weapon and shield.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose? Not often, but healing.

How often you will use stealth? Not at all unless it's absolutely necessary.

How often you will resort to combat? All of the time, this guy loves fighting.

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?) Probably a goody-two-shoes at first, but once he gets more powerful, gets better equipment, etc, he will be more of a bad ass.

How often you will rely on enchanted items? Not my main focus, the only time I'll use an enchanted item is if the base stats are equal to or better than the current item I have.

And potions? I will carry a few with me at all times, but its not my main focus. When I go ahead and fight that nearly impossible boss / dragon, I'll probably take a few but overall it's not a concern.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner). As of now, no background, but it will probably be a " I was in the wrong place at the wrong time " kind of thing.

1: Daniela.
Breton female, either medium or tall height. Normal build, maybe somewhat on curvier side (don't like them bones). I probably will spend at least an hour sculpting her face.
Weapons: if swords will remain most lightweight branch by far, then swords that is. Mostly one-handed, because second hand should be occupied either by spell or by shield. If there is no such obvious low-weight advantage of one-handed swords, then it is possible that she will use maces instead.
Magic: often, for most purposes except killing easy/moderate enemies. That's why she needs her weapon for. Mastery in all schools of magic will be her primary focus, but probably she will reach mastery in Restoration and Destruction way before everything else.
Stealth: very rarely. Probably never.
Combat: huh, well, as often as she will be attacked. No random slaughter in villages, that's for sure.
Moral stance: she will be "good" character, without random violence and stealing for pure profit (except if necessary for quest advancement). Although she WILL join Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, if they are in, if there are no conflicts with other, "good" guilds. She believes that it is either her, or someone else will perform these deeds, and because they will be done anyway, why don't get reward for it? Also, when she will become leader of the Dark Brotherhood, she probably will stop bothering about organization, effectively LOWERING violent crimes in region.
Enchanted items: major in Enchant.
Potions: never or almost never. Don't like to carry them.
Smithing: maybe will dabble a bit.
Political: loyal to the Empire.
Story: adventurer and scholar, always ready to help other people, she thinks of herself as of "highest authority". She is absolutely certain in her moral stance, in fact that her choices are good for majority, right and, most importantly, fair. Does that makes her prideful? Yes. Did she made some enemies? Sure, basically because of her idealism (self-centered, but still) she dabbled in contacts with some people she shouldn't had. And they framed her, because it was easy to do and it seemed like a good idea. They probably didn't liked her stance on politics, because she always keeps saying stuff like "Imperial Golden Age" and "we should unite as a common entity, not fight for our separate identities", et cetera. Or, well, maybe just because she was too naive. Now she won't be.

2: Aabach.
Nord male, tall, fat and muscular if possible. Hulkish brute. With beard and scars and stuff. Will contact and won't heal Lycantropy, if possible.
Weapons: two-handed axes and/or maces. Maybe sometimes one-handed with shield, not sure about that. Or maybe dual wielding axes. But two-handed heavy weapons are probably most preferable.
Magic: Restoration for healing, and that's about it, except for "support" spells in other schools, like Water Walking / Water Breathing, Light et cetera.
Stealth: very rarely. Probably never.
Combat: huh, well, as often as he will be attacked. No random slaughter in villages, that's for sure.
Moral stance: anything goes. He is not "evil", he likes to help people for profit, including pure reputation gains, because he sees value in people's love. But, well, gold is gold, and an axe to the head is an axe to the head. Nothing personal.
Enchanted items: of course, they are powerful.
Potions: meh, almost never.
Smithing: sure, will try to craft own equipment as much as it is possible. He don't like to depend on others.
Political: rebel for Skyrim independence.
Story: orphan, whose parents were killed during riot by soldiers of Imperial Legion (or variation of it, whatever is left in Skyrim). Not surprisingly, somewhat grudged. He turned his hatred of Empire into most positive force possible: he became strong and smart man, with firm goal of freedom for his homeland. He does not hate Cyrodilians as a nation, he probably seen very different kinds of them. But Empire? Abomination, which should die and stay dead. Or, at least, it should live somewhere else. Got death sentence because of unfortunate bar brawl, where he pushed some important (but very obnoxious) man so hard that he hit his head and died.

3: Malkav.
Bosmer, Dunmer or Orsimer male — depends on racial abilities and appearance. He needs to be ugly and scary. Smallest size possible, thin but muscular (if possible). Stupid hair. Tatoos. Will contact and won't heal Porphyric Hemophilia, if possible.
Weapons: bow. No melee at all, if possible. Two-handed mace as a weapon of last chance (thought it was a dagger? Hah!), maybe a dagger for sneak melee kills though.
Magic: technically, he is sort of a Nightblade, or more precise "Nightarrow". So yes, magic, definitely. Augmenting his archery, hiding him from other's eyes. And Necromancy, if possible. Oh yes sweet Necromancy. College of Whispers will definitely have a new boss.
Stealth: always.
Combat: whenever possible. Less people alive = more chances to survive.
Moral stance: what's that?
Enchanted items: shinies! Of course.
Potions: well, probably, just because it fits. Poisons, at least.
Smithing: sure, not much though.
Political: don't care. Whichever are funnier.
Story: criminal on the run from authorities from his home province (or wherever), he enters Skyrim to live a new life, completely new man, changed and redeemed... nah, who am I kidding, same old stuff — stealing and killing. Somewhere, he got sloppy. Now he is sentenced to death because of some murder of person who name he can't remember, because he does not cares. Fun fact is that they sentence him only for that murder. If only they knew what other atrocities he performed... he probably'd been boiled alive in acid or something like that, and no amount of old Blades could save him from (completely just) people's anger.
