How much of your first character have you already planned ou

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 5:24 pm

It's extremely obvious that many of the forum goers are so on edge with Skyrim, I'm surprised there hasn't been an hero already (from the anticipation). So here's what I thought: Let's keep building that stress up by getting you to explain how your character will look and function. Here's what you should post in this thread and keep in mind that this is for your first character only:

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)
How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
How often you will use stealth?
How often you will resort to combat?
What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
How often you will rely on enchanted items?
And potions?
And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).

Here's mine:

A small, thin Khajiit male that likes to play the thief and assassin,
who prefers bows and arrows, but can easily rely on a pair of daggers,
who hates magic and never even considers it a possible option,
and always loves to take it slow, steady and quiet.
Who prefers to solve problems with a silver tongue before a silver blade.
Who believes that as long as the innocent isn't harmed, it's fine.
Who hates the idea of an enchantment touching his armor.
And is a gifted alchemist and has an affinity for both poisons and potions.
It's kind of obvious why I'm slated for execution...

You know, that kind of looks like a poem, and I hate writing poetry.... dammit.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around) Argonain, Male, medium-tall, skinny vanilly
How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more. His name is Broken Fang, uses a broken fang method(Shortsword and a dagger, dual wield)
How often you will use magic, and for what purpose? none, unless you count shouts as magic, even though it was confirmed they are not part of the magicka branch
How often you will use stealth? ALOT. He is a Shadowscale afterall :b
How often you will resort to combat? Combat will resort from me :toughninja:
What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?) I'll be kinda like a neutral person while killings and stealing :chaos:
How often you will rely on enchanted items? maybe
And potions? Alot, especially poisons
And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).
Still waiting for more info so I can do a backstory

In Oblivion I liked playing as a Spellsword, in D&D I liked playing as an Eldritch Knight. I just like that mix of magic and melee, so I'll probably be doing the same in Skyrim. If I even decide to buy the game, which isn't a given yet. And being male, my character will be as well. I also don't like playing evil characters in a RPG, I generally lean towards good, or at least neutral. Though most likely good. Other than that, I simply don't know enough about how the game will work to make any accurate assumptions.

Imperial/dark elf mage if the magic system is good.

Might do a dark elf assassin-mage combo

My character is a male Khajiit, average build
who will only use his fists for weapons,
and he'll never use magic.
He's a thief, so of course he'll be using stealth all the time
and resort to combat as least as possible.
He'll never kill innocent people, but every other law is irrelevant to him.
Dunno about enchanted items or potions.

His story? Well, he used to be Sheogorath (same character from Oblivion), but due to a mistake on his part, when he exited his realm he used a faulty portal, and ended up 200 years in the future. Having no believable reason why he was in Skyrim to give to the authorites ("I'm a Daedric Prince!" doesn't work very well), they decided to execute him.

Nord male of average height and a body of corded steel muscles particular to those who are raised in the wild.
Comfortable and practiced in all weapons but preference given to swords.
Being born to the shaman/mystic caste of the tribe, this nord will have learned alchemy and restorative magics
He will not be above using stealth, and will have experience in it from hunting, but generally confronts issues of survival with strength of arms.
While generally good, his instinct follows the Law of the Wild: protect your own, crush threats utterly, and don't write checks your ass can't cash.
If magic makes an item kill better, its a bonus.

My character will be a Nord Barbarian called Jynthor(pronounced June-thor) the Fearless. He will be tall and muscular. And more or less a typical cliché Barbarian character. Not sure about hair yet but he will probably have long brown hair and a braided beard.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
He will use two handed weapons preferably claymores.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
Never.

How often you will use stealth?
Never.

How often you will resort to combat?
A lot... Always

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
He is a hardass from the outside but is more or less a neutral-good character. He will have no problem attacking people who annoy him greatly either...

How often you will rely on enchanted items?
He will use whatever he can to make killing more fun. :celebration:

And potions?
When needed I will use potions, like enchanted weapons no real rules about this.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).
While doing some exploration in Cyrodiil he ended up in Bruma. A noble kept annoying him, so he decided to kill him. Then at the Skyrim border guards came after him. He told them to leave him alone, but they didn't... So he killed a lot of guards too. Eventually they captured him because they were with many. That's how he ended up there. :D

The story will probably change over time. I'm not really taking this character too seriously.
At the moment anyway, eventually I will.

It`s way too early for this...

But I can say that I`m going to either pick a female character... or a male.

On a serious note, I will probably be trying out many builds. Classical orc with an axe, altmer mage, Redguard with a blunt weapon and maybe a sword...

Appearance - Human/ Nord, something like that - Skyrim has to be played with a Nord. Malr. Relatively tall, quite muscular but not Bodybuilder-shape, a bit less than well-built. Name: Ralin Elissa. Long hair, maybe a bit of stubble, but nothing too beardy.
Loadout - Single sword with a spell in the other hand. Agility-focused, mainly to get the job done. Bow and arrow whle sneaking, when detected switch to loadout described earlier.
Magic use - a lot - Something of a spellsword
Stealth - very often. Only rarely does he bust down the door. Usually the goal is to complete the objective and do it silently.
Combat - When detected, make it quick and clean, no long-duration battles. Plan and position well and all shouldnt take longer than 5 sec.
Enchanted Items - Mostly unique items or artefacts, If something is self-enchanted it's either a ring or a complete set of armor. The latter will most likely never be the case - Unique artefacts are quite the statussymbols.
Moral Stance - Breaking the law isn't really a problem, as long as it gets the job done. Does take precautions and plans ahead to prevent arrest.
Potions - Now and then, but most of the active effects come from Magic
Story - Lived in a remote village with his family, but they were killed. When he came back and was informed of his family's demise, he was apprehended under suspicion of ordering the Dark Brotherhood to kill his family. The motive would've been the inheritance (says the guard) but in fact, there is nothing of value to inherit.
After being jailed for months, it is now time for the execution. On the way to the execution area, inching closer towards the executioner, he realizes that his tale has not yet been told and that the real story is yet to come...

A nord male, quite muscular with long black hair and deep blue eyes.
Will use a sword mainly, but open for axes and other things.
Magic, none, he needs no stinkin magic.
When the time calls for it stealth will be used a lot, he is a bit of a thief after all.
When you can't take em out quietly or there's no need for stealth
Moral Stance: Chaotic good. Basically he does what he thinks is right, regardless if the "laws" or other means tell him it isn't.
Not really planing to rely on anything but the might and cold hard steel, what is a sword without the hand that wields it?

I'm pretty much basing my character on Conan, the REH character (not AHNULLLLLD). Melee focused strong warrrior, with no magic who has a bit of stealth/sneaking skills (as Conan was a thief before King).

Race: Argonian
Gender: Male
Shape/Size: He's a big one. And that doesn't mean just muscles. :) http://d.facdn.net/art/eto12/1303485453.eto12_f001c1.jpg
Alignment/Morality: Chaotic Good http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alignment_%28Dungeons_%26_Dragons%29#Chaotic_Good
Quests/Guilds: Main quest...and the rest remains to be seen.
Attribute focus: Health
Skills: Swordmanship and...drinking? :hehe:
Weapons/Armor: Swords obviously...and most likely heavy armor as he isn't going to be the most agile person around.
Magic? No.
Stealth? Not much...
How often will he resort to combat? When it suits his interests, or he doesn't have another option. He talks himself out of trouble the most likely.
Enchanted items? If they're shiny. :)
Potions? If they taste good...
Story: He was a pirate, but he swears he is going to stop plundering if he somehow is saved from execution. :P

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)
Tall, thin female Breton- possibly vampire. Can't decide on that yet.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
I'll do a lot of melee, probably either with fists, a dagger, or a sword.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
I will tend to use more "special effect" spells than damage/debuffs. Telekinesis, summons, and the like.

How often you will use stealth?
Fairly often. Not for protection or much of the damage bonus aspects, but when I really want nobody to know I was there.

How often you will resort to combat?
Don't know. Though I like being a pacifist, I will do what I need to disable enemies.

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
I follow my own set of lawfulness and justice. While my actions may be seen as lawless, I do them for a greater good and fairness. Neutral Good in D&D terms.

How often you will rely on enchanted items?
Probably not a whole lot, except maybe for summoning. I like a long summon duration.

And potions?
Not much, if at all.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).
Not much at the moment... Probably something to do with awakening after nearly 200 years of vampire-sleep, and the locals getting all freaked out about a vampire in town. Of course, not bothering to ask who the vampire is... Not like they'd believe the truth anyway.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)
Breton female named Synok Seryanton (pronounced Sigh-nok S-airy-ant-ton) with red hair and green eyes, average body size/shape.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
She is a battlemage, main weapons are sword and shield, mainly use them unless magic would be more effective

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
only use magic when it would be more effective than my weapons (ei: ghosts, surrounded by many enemies [AoE 2h spells], enemy has a weakness for my peticular spell), I plan on only use one type of destruction magic (haven't chosen yet) as I will RP'ing as a specialist in it, when I use it I will weild it in both hands

How often you will use stealth?
never

How often you will resort to combat?
I will try to talk my way through most things, unless they have done something I particularly dislike, like slavery or hurting wemon or children

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
I will be very good and compasionate, but ruthless to those who hurt others

How often you will rely on enchanted items? And potions?
As much as I can, same with potions

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).

I'll most likely use a male Red Guard, with a normal or skinny body-type, and a strong jaw with a slender face. Rather than mastering in a single form of combat, he'll probably be an archer/swordsman. He'll be primarily good, but quick to jump into battle if sneaking isn't an option.
