How much of your Skyrim experience will be...

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 12:49 pm

the thing with mods is that i only start looking into them by the time i've gotten bored with the vanilla game. and that doesn't happen for a looong time, or at least that was the case with oblivion. i'm talking like two years. but yeah i like looking into them

i feel, from my experience with morrowind and oblivion, Bethesda make a good game, and generally the modders just defecate all over it.
don't get my wrong some mods are useful. Better Bodies for Morrowind making people look vaguely lifelike, or tolerable. (I never opted for the nudity option there)
but a lot just seem to be someone found out how to use the construction set, now in your cell there's a ring that boost all your stats by 100, and makes you invisible. what's the point in that?

to be completely honest though, i just don't like mods.

You haven't seen real mods then.

I will be using a whole lot of mods regardless how good the game is.

Its all in the mods you go with. I prefer to stay away from item mods unless they are re-skins. Quests and dungeon mods are what I'll be going with. Anything that expands upon the game, rather than just taking it over.

I voted a bit.

"Wow, that colored map mod does look cool....."

I usually just do the minor stuff (like colored map mods) until I've been through it quite a few times. Usually, the only one that gets through completely unmodded is, as I said, the first.

Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas all ran great on my iMac, with mods. Using Bootcamp, with WinXP.
(and plenty of other games by other developers. But less mods there.)

Those threads are like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get :D

I'm a console player, all I can do now is look through the window at the mod shop. And see all the other boys and girls enjoy their mods while I'm stuck in the cold with rag on my back. Drooling.

I'm sure Vanilla Skyrim will be amazing but only so many times you can replay every quest and such. Oblivion can last for years with such mods.

I voted a little bit, because balance truly is key.

Although for my first play through I won't use any mods. I've done it that way since Morrowind and won't change things up for Skyrim.

I like playing through at least once mod-free, plus, this allows more time for quality mods to be created.

The first year or so I rely on the original game, so it better be damn good on its own. When the mods are mature and I can pick the most popular from thousands, I will try a fine selection as I did with Oblivion, although I'm not very good at making them work together.

Not much if any - I use a lot of mods for Bethesda games typically, but mostly just tweaks, convenience, improved UIs and so on rather than additional content.

That makes sense. But another thing is that I buy for the xbox first. That way i can enjoy the comfort of a console when i first play through it. Then i get it for the pc later on when the price drops a bunch. Plus by the time skyrim comes out i doubt i'll have my new computer, because the one i have now will probably not run it.

But yeah if that weren't the case i'd probably be more like you haha.
