How do I NOT adopt Sofie?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:07 am

Ok.So far ,on 2 of my characters I have adopted sofie.I see her situation as extremely dire and hopeless and cannot resist.

She is sooo adorable it drives me crazy. Her head is slightly larger than her little body which only serves to make her more adoreable. Also(as I have adopted her before)Her disposition cracks me up to no end.I don't even know if there is a real difference between any female child, or it is just in my head, but she seems to have some real moxy.

Solutions I have come up with are all bad:

1.Cast fury on her and have her attack a gaurd and deal with the consequences. This will effectively remove her from the game in a most heinous way, so it doesn't really solve my problem.

2.Using console commands reverse pickpocket her and place 40,000 gold on her person. While this would make me feel a alot better, she will still sleep outside, have no freinds,no supervision and no shelter, no food ,no employment.

3.using console commands, place her in Ulfrics quarters after defeating the stormcloaks....This seems a good idea but it may be a while till my lvl 6 orc can lead the imperial army to take Windhelm. In the meantime Sofie is suffering Terribly.

4.Never go to Windhelm in my characters travels...This may not even be possible due to quests.

5.Murder Nilsine and place sofie in her room and hope those two horrible parents don't notice(this may be possible).Though this may cause issues with any DB quests.

I don't know what to do?Need suggestions.I really want to adopt a boy this time and hopefully another girl other than Sofie but Lucia seems to have it so much better and the kids in Honorhall are basically "living large" in comparison to Sofie or any of the other orphans especially once Grelod is dead.

I think any discussion involving NOT harming her would be allowed,

And other then with console commands I don't think you can pickpocket her either.

I've discussed my solution elsewhere, but it's relevant here. But it does take some imagination and RPing.

The way I play it is that I have multiple characters, who in my mind occuply the same Skyrim.

Most notably: they can do the same quests (for leveling and entertainment), but generally only one character can identify with one quest.
* My Imperial, for instance, is the Dragonborn, and the legate who led the Imperial army to victory.
* My Dunmer is Archmage, and she also aided the Empire, but she did the covert missions. She also studies at the Bards college.
* My Khajiit is neutral in the civil war, but a friend of the Forsworn, and a rising star with the thieves guild. And he's also a vampire.
* My Nord is associated with no quest at all.

Also:
* No two characters may live in the same house.
* No two characters may marry or employ the same NPC as follower, steward, or anything else.
* No two characters should use the same unique weapon or other item.
* No two characters may adopt the same children.
* DiD characters are excluded, because they might follow a totally different path with each restart.

The benefits of this are obvious, of course, but especially so with the children. If each character can give two kids a home, then you can cover all the kids.

Of course, certain characters can't adopt certain kids. Neither my Dunmer nor my Imperial would feel right adopting Sofie, since they might be responsible for her being an orphan in the first place. But that's OK, since my Nord was fairly neutral, she and Marcurio can give her a loving home. And since I can adopt up to six, my Imperial (who lives in Riften) will be able to adopt Runa from Honorhall, without leaving a technically needier child out in the cold.

Why do you think Lucia has it any better? Sophie at least has flowers to sell, Lucia is reduced to begging, and sleeps outside on the ground behind the Bannered Mare, and she isn't a Nord with resistance to the cold.

One of my characters has adopted Lucia, the other Sophie, and a boy also for each. Poor kids!!

Lucia has it worse, I think, because she's an Imperial. Given how cold nights in Skyrim probably are, it's amazing she survived through even one.

Here's an interesting take on it: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1423060-an-interesting-take-on-skyrims-adoptable-kids/

I beleive Lucia has it better because(and not good...just better):

1Witerun is fairly far south.I have heard follower NPC's comment about "how one could forget how harsh Skyrim is in a city like this".Warmer temp. She also has 5 other kids to play with not including youre own if you live in Whiterun.

having freinds can make all the difference in the world.I'm sure her freinds won't let her starve and getting to play in the park, get in to trouble in Dragons reach and go cow tipping at night can really keep youre spirits up.She also resides in the Bannered Mare till from 8-130-2AM.So she at least as some warmth(and company)on cold nights(im sure she can sneak inside from time to time as well).

Whiterun is a center of commerce which means more potential parents/freinds and money from begging.

Sophie has nothing and no one(not even the town drunk)looking after her.She picks flowers(that anyome can pick walking down the streets of Windhelm)and tries to sell them in the grey quarter(the poorest part of the city). She has no other children to play with.No freinds and has basically no advlts around at all, except the occasional passer-by.She has no temporary shelter at all.She walks the grey quarter past dark till 130-2 AM at which time she finds a small crevice to hide from the wipping frigid winds(though can't excape temp or moisture at all).Though shhe is a nord she is outside 24 hours a day indefinitly(unless she can make 10 septimss for a room for 1 night at the inn).

As far as my Nilsine comment. As dumb as that is,it is relevent to the game(don't want to show spoilers). Also porting Sofie via console commands can cause game crashes and or other bugs....so those really arn't optio, though it is possible (I have done it...not wit Sohie)...(The Nord that goes around the grey Quarter shouting at the elves and dunmer...I ported him to a bear cave to bleed out indefinitly(he is essential)..

I know mods are seriously frowned on in these forums.Just looking for some type of rationalization to leave little Sophie.

Aussie adopted both Sophie and Lucia, Braggen adopted neither but buys all Sophie's flowers when he sees her and gives Lucia money when he is in Whiterun. I have to admit I do not RP and have no trouble leaving the kids out in the cold.

I generally don't have a major problem with any of the kids except Sofie. As I stated above,I think Lucia will be ok.The two other boys both have shelter and advlt supervision and employment. When you speak to either boy they will tell you "it's not that bad".I am not saying they are thrilled at there situations, but it looks like they'll be ok.

Sofie is doomed for sure. Also ,I use a lot of mods( a lot that I don't even need...as I do not pickpocket anyone, let alone children. It is just interesting to see what a child carries around).I use those mods for more realism.Like if someone dies to a vampire attack. There dead.I do not go to a previous save or use console commandss to res them...even if it were my wife or other household member.

Want to know what Sofie has on her(not placed there by a mod..but there by design)???

Kids carry some interesting and sometimes valuable items.(most times not)...so strange.

You cannot pickpocket children in the vanilla game, so most of us would have no idea what the children carry around. So yes please RollerPig, I would love to know.

Answer:

Spoiler
Sophie has 1-3 gold (before you buy anythhing),14 flower baskets and shoes.
The Valentia child in Witerun has an empty wine bottle, a flute, keys to her home,1 honey nut treat,1 leather strip and 1 sweet roll.
The orphans generally have very little on them, whille the children of the Jarl(or any wealthy person) usually have some gold and low -end general items....though, sometimes they will have a emerald/gold necklace or similar jewelery.
Pretty cool that the devs did that depending on the childs wealth and social standing.

I love knowing that!!
