How Often Does Fallout 4 Crash For You?

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 7:13 am

My last save says 175 hours and I've had two crashes in that time.

Both times they happened after I had minimized Fallout 4 and looked something up on Youtube on my PS4 and then brought Fallout 4 back up to continue playing. The crashes occurred a few minutes after bringing Fallout 4 back up while in the middle of gameplay (Not saving or exiting).

System:

PS4 w/external cooling system.

Rock stable for me, only issue is that I tend to get slowdowns after playing very long. Tend to minimize game instead of shutting down and this generate more lag after some days.

It really depends where I am. If I'm exploring around near Goodneighbor, for some reason that general area of the map makes the game start to lag and sputter until I reach an interior, and occasionally crash with a notice about the video card failing. Besides that problem in that particular part of the map, the rest of the game is smooth sailing.

262 hours

PC AMD 8 core running at 3.5 Ghtz

8 gigs of RAM (funny, I thought I had 16, guess I'll have to add some :) )

Radeon HD 7800 vid card

Setting: High (medium was recommended)

I can play indefinitely for multiple hours (4 hours at least) as long as I play continuously. However... If I pause the game and go fix food or whatever and am gone for several minutes (more than three or four), the graphics freak out and while the game doesn't actually crash, it is not playable because the resolution is scrambled to something my monitor won't support which means a black screen and a computer restart or it's down to something like 800 x 640 and the cursor is not in the middle of the screen.

I'm on XB1, and it varies wildly. It'll run smooth as silk for hours on end one day, then crash and bug out constantly the next. Overall more good days than bad though.

Lvl. 40-something, just over 1 week of gametime, Xbox 1.

Level 46 (on PC) and I've never had a hard crash. My game froze once, last night, but other than that it's been a very stable experience.

PC of medium-high specs. 180 hours, crashed once before 100 hours somewhere, playing with plenty of mods.

Compared to other Bethesda games, this actually IS a rather smooth launch experience for me.

Only crashes when exiting to desktop with the "Pure Virtual Function Call" as other have mentioned, no major crashes in 60+ hours on PC. FYI I can reproduce this bug as it started happening after getting the 2nd level of scrapper perk that highlights items. If I choose to exit to desktop while an item is highlighted, this is when it crashes while exiting, so now I just make sure I'm not standing next to any items I've tagged and then exit, no more "Pure Virtual Function Call" crash. Also exiting to Main Menu and then to Desktop instead of directly to the desktop bypasses this bug.

153 hours and zero CTD's.

2 lock ups that have forced me to kill Fallout (both been while riding gunnery postion on a vertibird)

And have had a few runtime errors on exiting.

All in all a very stable release imo.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz

EVGA GeForce GTX750 Ti 2Gb

8Gb DDR3 RAM

88 hours on 3 year old gaming PC, not a single crash yet, altho I have experienced heavy frame drops that made the game unplayable in indoor settings (outdoor no problem)

XB1 120+ hours zero full crashes. Had a couple long holds when exiting a building and the game autosaving but it has always saved itself right before I go to dashboard. I haven't even really seen many bugs and no gamebreaking ones at all

It crashed quite often in certain regions, such as the area near Kendall Hospital. It has crashed a lot less since I installed beta patch from Steam.

PC about 30 hours no crash

Xbox 1 I think only one and I do not think that was the game but more of an update to the OS that caused the crash to dashboard and I believe I have about 50 hours played over 5 characters.

I love to create new characters.

I believe I can say this is the most stable Bethesda game I have played at launch. Still has bugs but those have been very minor.

Most settings = High, few settings = Ultra. Godrays and shadow details = Medium.

PC with max settings

I think there's been one crash to desktop in about 170 hours of play. That said, the sound cuts out a bit fairly often and has cut completely out to never return about a handful of times. However, restarting the game always fixes the issue /shrug

The first day it crashed maybe 20 times but then Bethesda released that first beta patch on Steam and the problem went away.

I since applied the latest patch and with that I had a 50/50 chance of crashing when attempting to 'Continue' game from the main menu. I reverted the latest beta patch and I don't think it has happened since.

I also had a few crashes when attempting to equip Piper with an institute laser rifle. Haven't tried that lately...
