I have seen a dragon attack while I was inside of solitude so they can and will attack you while you are in a town. It was a random dragon also, unscripted.

Level 19, and I've come across three. One was walking down the throat of the mountain, not a special fight.... but the other, wow... I walked into Riverrun, and from over the mountains nearest to it a dragon appeared. Everyone in the city started running around like crazy. It circled a couple times then it started hopping from roof top to roof top taking people out

At the moment being level 19 i've only seen 3 random dragons attacks and they never focussed on me;

Once was near an old decrepid prison to witch I fled (as he was cooking me in my armor)

On 2 occasions they killed the outide guards (or bandids) of a dungeon I was passing by.

As i have not yet been to High Hrothgar and have not yet been instructed into the entire truth about me being a Dragonborn (at the moment they just think i am one and the Greybeards have uttered Dovakiin for the first time in centuries) i have take up the idea to not mess around with 'em to much.

Hope it doesn't bite me in the ass later. But it would only be logic that i will sooner or later find thoose dragons again once i go out hunting them.


edit: I also think you see 'em more as you progress the main story line further.

About 15 hours in for me, and aside from the scripted one by Whiterun, I've encountered one random spawn. Just now, outside of Solitude. I've been dutifully avoiding the main quest.

Level 15 encountered plenty, only killed 10. One of those didn't give me his soul.

I run into a good amount of dragons each day, most of which I kill for no odd reason now. In my 60 odd hours of playing Skyrim I have killed about 30 dragons, most of which have attacked Riverwood. I have avoided at least 15 so far and have to admit... I want to stop finding those over grown flying lizards! Sadly half of the citizens in Riverwood lay dead in the streets.

Also dragons can attack major cities. Have 3 dragons laying in Solitude

It seems like I have to fight a dragon every time I go to Winterhold. I don't know why they like that place so much, but it makes me not want to go there, because I've gotten kind of burned out with killing dragons. I didn't expect to kill hundreds of them in the game. I thought they would be kind of rare.

Never started the main quest on this character, so none at all. :biggrin:

Got too close and a dragons tail killed me today lol

Dragons need better armor, need to move faster, and have more health. Not too much but just a bit to make them more challenging

I'm at Level 26 and I think I've only run into 10-11 dragons. I've seen some flying around that didn't fight. I've spent a lot of time in the cities and dungeon crawling though so that might be why. One of them I didn't even get the soul because he didn't incinerate. He fell into the water and maybe that's why, I don't know. It's ok though because I haven't found enough word walls.

My twenty-seven character has killed twenty-four dragons, found five I couldn't get too in time, and fought three I didn't kill. I kinda think they need to tone down the spawn rate or make dragon souls more useful.

well dang it all then! I'm a mere 17 level and I get dragons constantly. I can't even count them all. I just met 3 of them in one hour of play time.

I was beginning to think I'm back in Morrowind with the cliffracers.

It really gets on my nerves. But the game is so awesome, I'll just keep killing them.

I'm a Level 20 assassin with 65 hours up. I can pretty much guarantee that about an hour after the game loads, I'll get me another dragon. I've stopped counting.

they seem to LOVE attacking me when im trying to go/get somewhere or thing done fast....

Agreed on the over spawn rate. I've encountered way more dragons than I expected to. They annoy me now. I've given up fast traveling just to try and avoid fighting them.

Level 28 so far, and recently got the "Absorb 20 dragon souls" achievement. A few of those were from world walls mind you, and I'm about 110 hours in.

Not too bad.

With my first character (~55hrs, leveled somewhere in the mid 30's) I had encountered a little over 20, but a third of that was from lairs and the main quest.

Wow, you sure your copy isn't damaged? Because by level 19 I already had encountered at least 7 dragons and now at level 25 I've killed in total 15 dragons, not counting the ones that I fled from.

Fairly common for me, at level 26 i have 32 soul's if i remember correctly, have not played Skyrim for a couple of day's though.

At level 15 I've run into about 12 dragons, of those 5 never landed to fight me and 2 were just about dead when I caught up to them (fighting giants.)
