How our character level up ?

HOW the system of level-up works anyway?

I mean, I know we have to rise your skills, but how many? Sammuthegreat in their gameplay found that he rise 5 skills, maybe a couple more before their character level-up to level 2 ... But i remember official information that we have to rise 10 times our skills before we can level-up.



I did roughly calculations, he have 18 skills, and let's say we have like this:

12 skills start with 15 "points";
4 skills start with 20 "points" and
2 skills start with 25 "points" ...

(I think this is the most usual from the videos I see and threads I read)

Every skill can rise to 100, right ? so ...

100 - 15 = 85 .... 85 x 12 = 1020
100 - 20 = 80 .... 80 x 4 = 320
100 - 25 = 75 .... 75 x 2 = 150

(1020 + 320 + 150 = 1490)

The totality of the 18 skills give us 1490 "points" to "fill up" before we can have all the skills at 100 ...


But if we divide the 1490 points by 10 (...we have to rise 10 times your skills before we can level-up...) = 149 level ??? Not right, because we all now that the soft cap is 50...

Of course, divided 1490 by 9, 8, or even 7 "times skills rises" we will get more higher numbers to the feature "character level"..

So, this is NOT how the system works...

(Unless we have to rise 20 times our skills between every level-up since 1490 / 20 = roughly 75, just the valour of the highest possible level mathematically estimated)

I have another idea to try to solve this and remember that I can use a gradual number of "times skills rises" to level-up... Let's say ...

5 "rises in skills" to level-up our character from level 1 to level 2
6 "rises in skills" to level-up our character from level 2 to level 3
7 "rises in skills" to level-up our character from level 3 to level 4
8 "rises in skills" to level-up our character from level 4 to level 5
9 "rises in skills" to level-up our character from level 5 to level 6
10 "rises in skills" to level-up our character from level 6 to level 7
(...)
53 "rises in skills" to level-up our character from level 49 to level 50

You know what ?... 5+6+7+8+9+10+...+53 = 1421 (very close to 1490)... :)


But this is NOT the solution also... Why? Because 50 is a soft cap, we all know that we can rise the level of your character around level 70 - 75 ...


So... I am blocked at this time ...

Technically just like OBlivion I can level up forever since your skills drop when you go to prison. Got to prison enough and you would be back at 0 for all skills. Then you can level up all over again.

I am pretty sure it gets harder to level up as your level gets higher so it will probably be like 10 skills at one point maybe 15 or 20
they said the hard cap would be somewhere around 75

This, plus the added complication that leveling skills that you're already a high level in counts for more.

So going from 75-76 in Destruction counts toward your progress more than going from 14-15 in Destruction.

There's no set number of skill increases needed to level up, as higher level skill increases are "worth" more than lower level ones. As for the actual levelling up, my guess is once you get enough skill increases, a message comes up on the screen saying "LEVEL INCREASED TO #" in the same manner as the skill increased messages. Then, the title of the Skills menu changes to Level Up, you go in, select which attribute to increase by 10, and which perk to unlock.

I'm guessing that the weighting is harsher for the lower leveled skils (1-20), so that they would take a lot more skill-ups to level.

Sammu mentioned that it was 5-7 skill-ups, but that it could've been more because he wasn't paying attention. And it seems that he was focused on his preferred skills for his race, so they were naturally higher and contributing more to his level.

I bet if he focused on all of his "15" skills, he wouldn't have leveled in the same time.

Um. I know the OP's command of English isn't the greatest, but that appears to be exactly what he's on about. Except that he's laboring under the mistaken impression that there's a soft-cap at level 50. It's already been confirmed that you'll peak at level 75-ish.

But yes, he was asking about how many skill increases it takes to level, and the answer is "it depends".

As your skills get higher, so does the xp you gain. To my knowledge, no one knows what the curve looks like for this effect.

Considering the comments that "once you hit 50, you level slower" and "higher level skills count more towards your level than low level ones", I have some guesses.


I think there's a hidden "xp bar". Each level takes a certain # of XP to advance (with that amount increasing greatly after level 50), and each skill point increase gives you some hidden XP. Low level skill points give less XP than high level ones.

So, for example: Going from 15->16 might give 100xp, while going from 75->76 might give 500xp. And the amount of "xp" needed for each level increases.... so, at level 1, you only need a few low-value skill points to go up to level 2. But at level 40, going from 15->16 might only give you a small boost.


But, like I said - it's just a guess.

So it's not like in Oblivion, that you have to lvl up 10 skills, but the higher lvl your character is, the longer it takes for the skill to lvl up? (Was a quite long time ago i read or heard about the leveling, so i don't really remember, sorry for that x))

The higher your skills, the more they contribute to your level.
But then, the higher your level, the more "XP" from those skills will it take to raise that level.

Your English is fine/understandable to me. (But your European Portuguese sound a little funny. :teehee:)

I would say that it is dynamic, you need 10 "Skill Points" to Level Up, your high-level skills at level-up will not just give you "1 Skill Point" they will add "3 Skill Points" to compensate the hardness of level up it. Something like that.

Uhhhh... This makes more sense, yes, no doubt, than using a fixed number (5, 7, 10, 20...) of skills to level-up our character...
