I've tried putting several of my weapons into display cases in my armory? But it ain't happening? Am i pressing the wrong button or....

Open display case, drop the desired thing you want to put in the display case by pressing X, pick it up manually by pressing A and holding it for a bit. If it is not aligned right carefully whack it around the corners of the display case, or a handy door corner, or just draqe it over the side of the case and drag it along, and then pop it in the display case. You can put just about anything in there that fits, books, ingredients, weapons, shields, jewellery, you can fill it up, it does not have to be just one thing like with the preset cases. Although even with the preset ones, you could always manually put the stuff in there.

As far as I've been able to tell, these display cases aren't like weapon racks or other display cases. They're basically tables with lids. You have to place objects in them manually. Good luck with that, considering the recent "Everything gets picked up upside down" physics bug.
