How to remove patch 1.2

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 7:13 pm

If you're like me, patch 1.2 completely broke your game and made it nearly unplayable. Dark Elf being 1-shot by a Fireball? Dying in roughly 3 seconds to a Frost Dragon with 75% total Frost Resist? Happening!

So how to you remove this obviously bugged patch?

Go to your XBOX 360 Dashboard, go to "SYSTEM", then goto "MEMORY", select your hard drive and press "Y".

Once there, on your controller, input: X, X, LB, RB, X, X

This performs a reset of the system cache, where game updates are stored. This will NOT erase your game saves.

Then, DISCONNECT FROM XBOX LIVE, and begin your game of Skyrim. Once you are inside the game, you should be able to reconnect to XBOX Live without being prompted to patch. Be aware you'll have to be disconnected each time you start the game, at least until patch 1.3 comes out and hopefully, resolves this game breaking bug thats affecting everyone.

Are you sure both of these situations aren't being caused by you encountering an enemy which is simply more powerful than anything you've seen before? This sounds like it could be normal gameplay to me. Then again, what do I know, I'm on the PS3.

I'm sure. I loaded up my Sword and Board Warrior to test with. He has roughly 90% resistance to all magic through gear, perks, and Lord Stone. Attacked a "Novice Fire Mage" and was promptly 1-shot by a Fireball. Before, I could throw up my shield and laugh off the damage.

And as far as I know, the resistance bug is on the PS3 as well, you likely just haven't noticed it yourself.

I just noticed a minor problem, the original patch that the game came with, the 1.1 patch...will also be removed. I don't know what the consequences of that will be, but its better than NOT PLAYING for a month until 1.3 comes out to fix this problem.

Any idea what that patch did? Can the game be played without it?

Whatever the consequences, its better than not playing at all until 1.3, but is currently the only other option. Trying to play without magic resistance is like running around naked.

Fudge.

I guess I'm [censored] as well.

Probably gonna be 2012 before we see another patch to fix this.

Incredible.

Ah that makes sense. My Nord fighter is terrified of magic in general, he usually runs if it seems a magical enemy seems more powerful/bossy than usual.

I think it has been confirmed that the patch broke magical resistance. That is why.
