How to remove ugly glowing from weapon mesh?

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 2:51 am

I'm using OOO and there is a special weapon with VADaito mesh (if it tells anything to you). The problem is that this weapon got a mesh with ugly glowing effect - maybe in daylight it looks fine, but in dark I'm getting http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/6610/glowing.jpg. And my question is how to remove this effect from mesh, using only NifScope (I haven't got 3DSMax or anything like that)?

I'm not sure which glow you mean.

To get rid of the shininess (blinking in the dark) do this:

Select NiTexturingProperty. In block details look for 'Apply Mode'. Change it from 'APPLY_HILIGHT' to 'APPLY_MODULATE'. Then double-click on 'EnvMap2' (name of NiMaterialProperty). Change the name to 'default'.

To get rid of any possible glow effects on the weapon do this:

Right-click on NiMaterialProperty. Select 'material' from the list. Set the emissive color (bottom right) to black (move the marker in the triangle so it points to black, which should be in the left bottom of the triangle).

Just remove both if you're unsure what to do and add it back later if you feel something is missing.

Maybe this is just me being an idiot, but it looks like it's enchanted, sure it's not just the effect from that?

Great thanks for Phitt, solution for shining has solved the problem. :) I knew that it's a mesh problem, not enchantment - none of any other magical weapons had this sort of shining.
