How to resolve circular leveled list?

Post » Sat Feb 12, 2011 6:05 am

I experimented with merging PTRoamingNPCs and kuerteeWanderingEncounters plugins. All color indicators look fine but I decided to click the check for circular leveled list and got this:

Circular Leveled List found: SE14GSEscortList [LVLC:00079C90] -> SE14GSEscortList [LVLC:00079C90]

Doing a search on the SE14GSEscortList came up with it being in Oblivion.esm>Leveled Creature>...next to TNAM - Creature template: SE14GSEscortList "Golden Saint Escort" [NPC_:0006374A].

I read that this may cause CTD but the manual said nothing on how to resolve it.

If you have Shivering Isles fully patched, i don't think you need to worry about that.

What's going on is that circular levelled lists constantly generates new items. Not a problem, but (unpatched) Shivering Isles/Oblivion can't generate new formIDs for items created- eventually it'll run out of formIDs and crash. The patch released by bethesda fixes this issue (it was a holdover from Oblivion and was left unfixed since it would require about 4000+ hours of game time to break. With SI installed, the game would break within 40-50 hours of playtime.)

If it still bothers you, grab the Unofficial Shivering Isles patch- among other things it fixes, it also fixes that circular levelled list.

No... just having SI won't solve it. You'll need to grab the latest offical patch for it; and optionally the unoffical patch for shivering isles.

Actually that formID problem doesn't crash the game, what it did was it began replacing items by taking it's form ID. Of course most low formIDs are used on old arrows and gear but slowly you start to loose stuff :( Luckily I never lost a thing I missed but still a nasty bug.

The circular list is a separate issue. If you don't have the USIP, you don't have the fix.

yes, but if he's got the official patch, the circular list is more along the lines of sloppy game design than a game-breaking bug. Yes, he'll need the Unofficial patch to remove it, but it's not something that'll cause his game to explode now.

Circular leveled lists CAN crash the game though. They're not as serious as the formID bug, but they still shouldn't be ignored when found.

Well all this back and forth among people is interesting but like I said, I am patched.

I now see this is an Oblivion.esm issue and has nothing to do with what I was doing.

I still don't have the knowledge to fix it if needed.

If it wasn't clear, use the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch. Problem solved. You don't need to worry about it. It's already been fixed as long as you have that installed.
