How satisfied are you? With Official trailer?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 12:48 am

They did. But they used it much more subtly and in more the background than the current rub-it-in-your-face that we have. It was this mysterious paradise lost; though not anymore. Now it seems to be "just the 50's with some tech".

I wasn't going to. Would've been nice if you on your behalf didn't pull that "bellow the belt punch" on me before I actually did it.

Just thankful that we got a teaser at all. I fully expected just a screen when the timer finished saying something along the lines of FO4 coming soon. I thought the actual teaser was very good and it certainly gave me the FO flavour again.

I was tempted just for the expectation of it.

Pretty underwhelming IMO even for an announcement trailer. But it really doesn't matter as there is no way this game could be more hyped than it already is.

I honestly hope they don't do that... The retro-50's paradise gimmick, is only good because it's their past tense golden age ~destroyed, and no longer around. To restore it as anything other than a computerized simulation in-game, would be an egregious mistake.

**Think: The all day svcker in the store window... It's far better to want to have it, http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/images_zpsrzmc6bll.jpg.

I think I might have decided my first Unarmed Fallout 4 character's defining trait. Assuming unarmed made it into the game in a non Skyrim fashion.

Oh no worries I had no plan too, just being healthy paranoid, had enough with fans of the old games with there rose tinted nostalgia glasses acting like they where flawless masterpieces back when Fallout 3 was out.

Well... I'm freakin' thrilled about the game finally being confirmed, but the trailer wasn't all that. Remember back when the trailer for Skyrim came out? I was practically in tears I was so happy and impressed with it. :touched: With the FO4 one I was like "This is cool - yay".

Oh, I am part of that bunch (and I might disagree with your definition of it), so I might just oblige your paranoia at a later point if there's calling for it (wouldn't want to disappoint). Just a healthy reminder that things don't always need to go that way.

I believe they already did it with the trailer. Might be wrong of course, and it is just some form of simulation or a disorted memory, but... well.

Speaking of the graphics...

Also, no last gen consoles anymore if it wasn't clear already.

I'm fairly disappointing with the trailer + rumors floating around.

-GFX: I'm not a graphics freak but c'mon it doesn't even look as good as a 2 year old last gen game.

-Atmosphere, Art-Style, & Plot: Never has a gamesas game hit mas as so samey as the previous title as this trailer did. Very similar landscapes from FO3 and yet another Vault Dweller hero. There was even the same old exit vault scene from FO3.

-The old Rumors seem more likely, as they mentioned stuff seen in the trailer: The thought of a potential voiced and premade PC in a Bethesda game is such a bummer. As is the rumored yet another good vs evil plot.

Where did you see D.C. style landscapes?

Everything about the city itself was so ANTI-D.C., and the general wastland enviorment had about as much plant life as Skyrim does.

The only thing that looked D.C. was the one shot with the deathclaw, but that was very different from the rest of the trailer.

I love Pete.

A tad arrogant, but to the point, gotta admit that much.

I flipped out when I had seen that a trailer was released, had to sit down take a deep breath and watch it. To be honest I was blown away by the graphics and by the end of the trailer i was pretty much hyped.

Ive seen conflicting views on the graphics but I think it depends on what your looking at. Animations are roughly the same as the previous games I didnt see anything new(for better or worse in this regard I suppose), character models I actually didnt catch the first time through but I do have to admit im abit iffy on them, and the world/textures is what really caught my eye I would argue that there are big improvements there. The sunlight with the new world improvements made me very happy and again I feel the trailer showcased the brand new world very well.

That said im sure some would have perfered more improvements in other graphical areas.

Unless it involves Skyrim's poor performance on the PS3 and how misrepresentative he was about it.

Personally, I found the rather contemptuous attitude he had towards customers to be a bad thing for a PR official, unless the plan was to make him a hate sink so that people would be more forgiving towards Todd Howard and the programers.

Ehh, better to be a bit arrogant then a lot of devs who constantly try to [censored] over other's work, and devs who actually fall for responding to it.

He makes a point, he has no reason to listen to them.

I think the Vault door looks awful. Looks soft and rubbery, almost like it's supposed to be part of a bouncy castle or something.

I found the "uncompressed" trailer, and I'll admit that the graphics do look better than they did in the Youtube version, but it still doesn't seem to be a big enough graphical leap considering they haven't released a game in 4 years. Not that graphics are everything, but we can't really talk about to much else because the trailer doesn't reveal jack. Maybe other facets of the game make up for it (size, stability, writing quality, AI, etc.), but until those things are revealed, the trailer is a bit of a letdown.

Disagree entirely there. He's a PR guy. His entire purpose is to foster good relations between the company and the customers. Acting arrogant, above them, and all but saying our opinions are meaningless to him flies against if you ask me.

Someone else might interpret that differently. I don't care that much. Although, pointless as I see the graphics arguments, it does pose a question what kind of criticism can they bother to listen if this gets a bluntly honest response like that.

In any case, moving on.

The teaser might be a mishmash of the intro and some gameplay... In the sense that it might not exist in the game as anything but a narrative retelling.

I thought the trailer was awesome! Gave me goosebumps and I probably have watched it 20 times now. Makes me so excited for the new game. Now I don't expect the storytelling to be as solid as the New Vegas installment. But i expect the action and game experience to be excellent. Been waiting for what feels like forever, for a new Fallout. So I can't wait to explore the Boston Wasteland. And fingers crossed that Obsidian gets to release the next Fallout, while we are busy in Boston ;)

Any hype surrounding this game is purely by the fans, Bethesda has not hyped this game in the least...yet. And I'm good with that. One the things that I disliked the most about Skyrim, was the pre release Bethesda hype machine. Advertizement, I get. I understand it, I understand the need for it, but the level of hype surrounding it was unnecessary.

IMO the trailer served a purpose, and that is to announce that Fallout 4 is real and it's on it's way. This is what we've all been waiting 6 years for, isn't it?

Personally, I think I'll wait until I see an in game demo before I begin to form any opinions on the game, but it won't be until I start seeing some reviews of people who have played it, that I can get an idea of what to expect from Beth's latest game.
