How to save this game (again)

Post » Wed May 15, 2013 12:39 pm

First off, I love Crysis, I have been a huge fan since Crysis 2. The only way to save Crysis 3 is to cap Auto Armor at level 49 and release some free DLC. It is an absolute shame that this game has gone to **** because it has been pushed out too soon by EA and auto armor is being abused by high level players. Stupid asshats who abused the melee glitch in Cryisis 2 are now using auto armor to get "high stats" in Crysis 3. I am very disappointed that this game has become such a steaming pile of **** because of this. If high levels aren't using the auto armor crutch the game is actually fun but with it there is no point now. People are leaving in droves, the game is finally balanced, release some free DLC, cap Auto Noob and we might actually see a comeback of this once good franchise...

edit (I am speaking for the PS3, the melee glitch wasn't a huge issue on Xbox and PC but it sure as **** was a problem on PS3)

I actually agree with you on a lot of levels here. I was the one who even suggested a high level cap for Auto Armor. It is a shame how abused this module is. I've talked to people in their third reboot who haven't taken off Auto Armor once yet. WHY does it give a warning when you want to disable it? Anyway I think the best way is to cap Auto Armor at level 10 after that it automatically changes to Armor Transfer. These Auto Armor noobs need to try other Armor modules. Ordinance Alert is really good once you get it to level 2 it's basically a hack lol, well not really but thats where I think they got the idea. It's not as hard to level up Ordinance Alert either, I did it in 2-3 games, just ask people nicely to equip rex charges and throw them down, and remind them to keep throwing them out. A lot of people will be helpful and some will even want to level up Ordinance Alert along with you. Also, Detonation Delay is a amazing Armor Module and actually has a lot of technical similarities to Auto Armor. I would be so happy if people ran Detonation Delay instead of Auto Armor, oh my god I would love that.

I would take any cap on auto armor at this point, just to make this game playable. What a shame that it has come to this, I had such high hopes for Crysis 3, first game I ever pre-ordered and unfortunately the last one as well. What a sad state of affairs when you can barely get in a crash site game now. I really, really hope Crytek pulls some magic to get people back and build some kind of trust with people who bought into the series. I wasted money on C2 DLC unfortunately and would love to see something positive take place here as a thank you to anyone left sticking around.

How to save Crysis 3 (probably to late, but here goes):

1st- AA cap
2nd- Make a "Free to Play" version available for download. Make it have a level cap of 15-20. Make it be playable after hitting cap, but you can't progress any further without full purchase.

Do it Crytek

I want to see further improvements to the Anti-Cheat before it would go free to play. Think about it a hacker gets banned, gets another free account, hacks, then gets banned and repeat. Crytek needs to ban via IP as well.

I will refrain from making fun of PC gaming online to aknowledge your point. Its valid. I am a console player so it basically doesn't happen on my platform. But if its that bad on PC, I guess that should be fixed.. I would hate to have a free to play held up until every last hack is accounted for and fixed via anti-cheat patches.... it might never happen.

Seriously not this again. Players, I should say POOR players, are seriously overrating the effectiveness of auto armor. Auto armor provides absolutely no benefit that cannot be countered by a skilled player. A player with situational awareness, good aim and the ability to quickly activate his or her own armor is not disadvantaged without auto armor. I have completely decimated auto armor players using triple stacked XP bonus.

Auto armor does not need a level cap. What in gods name would be the point of a perk that you can only use for a few days?!? How does auto armor teach people to use armor? It doesn't. It teaches people to like auto armor, because its a moderately effective perk for people that have trouble managing it. It is not overpowered. Perks such as Retriever and Low Profile are infinitely more effective. Maneuverability is arguably the most powerful perk in the game, and puts players without it at a disadvantage.

I don't like disagreeing with fellow players, but honestly the auto armor issue is less important than the colour of the socks you wore yesterday. It does not need to be changed to bring players to the game. The game needs net code fixes. Host migration is worthless, host selection is terrible, bandwith usage is killing players with average connections. People are turned off by the game because they can't even play it.

Please, you have 3 posts on this forum you have no idea about the fundamental problems with Auto Armor. Just the fact of being able to run around with no speed penalty from manually activating your armor, auto armor users only slow down when they took damage. Also as it's evidenced by people who are 5th reboot level 50 and still using Auto Armor.

It was meant for NEW players to get used to having an Armor mode. It needs to be capped. No one had trouble managing Armor in Crysis 2 and it was a lot more difficult back then. Auto Armor is just plain lazy, and it's blatantly over powered as evidenced by the statistics.

Just so you know the people who work on balancing the game aren't the same exact ones who work on net code. They can fix both.

Suggestions I offer for balance,
Cap Auto Armor at level 10
Users who are running Scout can now see players who use Low Profile on the radar.
Retriever only available when equipping DSG, Gauss, Bow. Also make Retriever unavailable for DM and TDM.
Maneuverability can be balanced by increasing the default move speed a little.
Rapid fire already got a nerf (even though it shouldn't exist in the first place)

Please you have 1337 posts on this forum so I guess you are either a loud mouth or you can't read English. Crytek has already stated that auto armor is integral to the game and will not be changed end of story. I guess because of your mighty post number they'll make an exception for you though...
