How scarce is ammo? **SPOILER?**

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:45 am

I didn't play too much of the previous Fall Out games. Assuming that I open/explore most everything I see, how often will I end up out of ammo?

Trying to decide how many points to put into Strength and Melee weapon perks.

Well, I'm sure as usual ammo will be scarce early on, and we will be swimming in it by end game. Would have really like to have kept the NV ammo system of surplus, junk, breakdown, and reload just for such times. Eh, I suppose I'm back to making it a point to find the ammo I need...and keep that laser musket handy of course.

I never ignore melee either (just my preference between that and unarmed), because it has saved my ass on more than one occasion early on.

That's how it always goes. In the beginning I'm just running around like a goon with multiple guns because I know I'll run out of ammo for one and have to switch to another. By the end of the game I have enough ammo for an entire army brigade. Usually takes until about quarter way through the game to have a comfortable amount of ammo. Enough that you basically just take one or two weapons with you wherever you go.

I would say barely.
In previous versions, I think energy weapon comes to the most important position in mid/end stage of the exploration, in case you are not a close combater.
And, I think (not sure) the diffculty level will impact ammo amount as well.

I think with the 'bash' and grenade hotkeys I'll finally put some effort into melee and explosives.

I haven't seen any vids yet where it's a problem and just about every thing seems to drop some kind of ammo.

I have seen someone run out of bobby pins though, so be careful with those early on I guess.

I hope we get enough energy weapon ammo to start with. I hated we didn't get any until we did the Come Fly With Me quest.

That said on higher settings I wouldn't mind scare ammo

i always have lots of ammo, establish the ammo merchants asap at least a couple setttlements early on and use a variety of weapons so you're not just relying on one thing, kill enemie and loot what they have, also explore and scavenge for everything also carry some type of melee weapon early on especially for low level enemies also using a follower if they have their own ammo and weapon helps.

It depends on the difficulty settings, meaning how easy is to kill a mob with out to much ammo.

As some pointed out you most like start scarce and then aboundant, also

Spoiler
there some perks that let you find more ammo when looting

Ammo is incredibly common if you like .38 weapons. I already hate pipe weapons so much.

Yes found that too, make .38 your default weapon on lower level then use something more powerful against tough enemies.

Might even be smart to have multiple .38 weapons like one scoped one and one for spray and pray.

.38 is stupidly common so far. By the time I got my first pipe rifle, I already had about 492 freakin .38s just hanging around.

By the way... these rounds pack a fricken punch. So far... I can crown a raider's dome in usually one shot.

Hold off on using energy weapons. Now that Damage resistances are split across weapon types, There's not a lot that actually protects against laser weapons yet. The fricken Laser Musket might as well be a railgun. This puppy will chew threw ammo, but oh my god it melts people with just two rotations. I haven't found a lot of ammo for Energy Weapons yet, so... keep them on reserve for things that are just not very kind.

Lastly, it's worth a bit to put some points into melee. I can't tell you enough how often I got caught reloading when a raider rushed rushed me with a shotgun, or a ghoul tries to high five my face. A whack of the gun saved my [censored].

Hah. I know it's a typo, but this made me think of using the junk-jet with the flaming property, and loading it with skulls! (Assuming you can pick up skulls from the skelly people laying about.) Talk about scare ammo!

I've been using an upgraded 10mm and have never run out of ammo.
