How should Enchantments look

I think that if you have fire enchantment on a sword then it should be on fire when it if out of the holder.

Or maybe glow cherry-red and then burst into flames when it hits something.

I'm just hoping we no longer have the saran wrap glow we've had in the last two games.

I think a flash when you equip it should be enough. If it looks like Morrowind's did I'll break my fingers.

It would be cool if you have a frost enchantment and the bow shoots a arrow that looks like a frost cloud covering the arrow sort of thing.
If you have a lightining enchantment then a sword would look like it chad ligntining going through it.

frost blueish tint or better yet waves of blueish energy or some other subtle effects. Each spell should have it's own effect.

How should an enchantment look? Enchanting, how else?

Seriously though, why should an enchanted piece of gear look different?

It should sing to the hevans whenever you pull it out. (In an angelic voice) " Fire damage 20 PTs for 10 Seconds"

As long as it's better than it was in Dragon Age... They should have very subtle effects on them.

Exactly. Enchanted swords looked like light sabers.

If it was me I don't think I'd put any visual effects on weapons. Maybe just a marking as if it was engraved in the metal. Sign of fire,or lightning etc.

If there has to be visuals (burning, frozen, electrified blades) I hope they're done discretly.

Realistically ( he says talking about magic swords ) a flame or other effect should make enchanted weapons unusable by stealth characters, " Must have been a rat, you know, one of them rats with the weird icy glow".
Also with everyone in the pub wanting to steal the glowing, therefore magical, therefore valuable claymore on your back, wouldn't the original owners end up asking the enchanter to disguise their weapons' nature, except for the very vain of course, for whom armour simply must be wreathed in lightning, I suppose.

I just thought that it would be cool if different weapons and armor would have different sort of effects for different enchantments on the enviroment.
Fire enchantments could set fire to trees if struck :flamethrower: , Frost enchantments could freeze water if plunged into it or shatter armor and metal shelds :icecream: , Lightining enchantments could travel through metals and water to kill fish and extra damage to people wearing heavy armor.
:shocking:

Hmmm...maybe if the items had gems installed in them... All those rubys, sapphires and gems from oblivion never did any good... :)

Not bling-bling style offcourse, but rather a single gem in the adecquate color (red for fire, white for frost and light blue for lightning)

Something like http://www.google.hr/imgres?imgurl=http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/14351-1-1197923236.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php%3Fid%3D14351&usg=__5zxOqQEbxUI_s1efntdvfLKSo9I=&h=662&w=800&sz=51&hl=hr&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=AvG7pwg_5VtVMM:&tbnh=139&tbnw=168&ei=vVFcTaWFNo7tObKwybEL&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgem%2Bsword%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dhr%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:hr:official%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D857%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=280&vpy=75&dur=3759&hovh=204&hovw=247&tx=173&ty=126&oei=vVFcTaWFNo7tObKwybEL&page=1&ndsp=48&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0

As long as a cloak that enhances stealth doesn't have a shiny outside glow.

I think enchantments should give off an appropriate lighting affect (fire, red) (ice, blue) and lighting effects should spark on strike.

For swords and daggers I think the detect life enchantment should be attach to these weapons for stealth characters and missions, so when an enemy is nearby your weapon or weapons glow depending on the creatures that are in the area. For example how the Master sword in Twilight or Sting in the Tolkien series did when orcs or goblins were close.

Subtle, yet visible (and a lot less artificial than seeing plastic wrapped swords or wierd color creases) :D

Next to that I think it would be great to see a subtle form of trailing effect following the weapon as it is in motion as well as particles (maybe even secondary effects) on impact.

The neon armor...it burns my eyes!

The weapons should look normal until they strike an enemy. It would be cool if upon impact the blade emitted embers, shards of frost, sparks and other unique effects for each enchant.

Yeah, they overdid it on the HDR and Bloom. Most people disable it in their game to remove the glare :P

Maybe you could decide if you want the weapon/armor to show its true nature or disguise its power for stealth people but make a cool effect like shoots fire up the blade for example. :flamethrower:
