How should I get oblivion?

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 6:42 pm

How should I get it? I want to get it on pc for convienence and ease of use, as well as modding. I want to get it on steam but I am afraid that modding it will activate the VAC (Valve anti cheat) and I won't be able to play it... Halp meh D:

I'm no expert, but I don't really see why VAC would be an issue at all in a single player only game. :)

I see I'm a bit late to the party, but if you have a PC powerful and stable enough to do the game justice and don't might some possible short-term frustration while learning proper mod installation and management techniques then PC gets my nod. If you do go PC, go DISK. GOTY or course. Not sure you can PC non-GOTY on disk these days in any case.

If PC and your OS is Win7 or Vista, save yourself some headaches and make sure NOT to install the game into the default Program Files location. Newer versions of Windows place security restrictions on that directory/folder. It'll for sure interfere with mod installation and maybe even the vanilla game itself.

I would always say to PC, and on disc. But it is, of course a personal preference.

I've been playing the Steam version (win7 64-bit) for a long time with nearly 200 mods installed including FCOM, OBGEv2, Qarl's, Duke Patricks, etc. and there is virtually no difference installing mods on the Steam version vs. boxed disc version.

Considering the game of the year deluxe edition is on sale, might be a good option to get it via steam.
