How should the Nords be revamped?

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 12:04 pm

Yes. Beards. We should be able to have a physics enabled beard that rests on top of our armor and not clipping through it.

Yes yes yes. This is good to see. Beards beards BEARDS!

Nords were originally shown with beards; they had them in FO3, and with this game focusing on them I’m sure they will. :goodjob:

I'm pretty sure beards is by far the most requested feature in general for Skyrim.

I'd really wish that the races were all more different and cool. Bosmer are generally little and annoying. I don't find trouble with the littleness or the fact that the women are taller, just that the defining feature of them is "annoying" and not "people who are so friendly with plants that they are carnivores and cannibals." Each race ought to feel different when you play through with them.

Also, Beards! Physics-based beards and hair, plz. And tattoos.

These.

There should also be at least one paralyzed, naked barbarian/witch combo.

Which one's paralyzed and naked? The barbarian or the witch?

Orsimer - They would actually look like orcs, not the Jolly Green Giant. Snotty, brown skin. Their co-existence within civilization would be all the more spectacular. Imagine an orc noble clothed luxuriantly, head to toe, upon a palanquin, toted by nordic man-servants. Awesome. Not what you'd expect to see.
Argonians - Toad-men, about like grumites with huge legs and mouths. Horned, feather-crested, or not.
Altmer - Earless and tall, with elongated fingers, large white almond-eyes, gold skin, and the males and females go shaven head.
Bosmer - Horned, short males. Idealized figure among the women. All have jet-black eyes and white skin.
Dunmer - They've adapted to the ash-laden atmosphere of Morrowind, but life beyond the Velothi mountains requires a breathing apparatus. They're grey-skinned red eyed.
Nords - What you'd expect: Aryan supermen and women.
Cyrodilics - http://www.imperial-library.info/content/page-36. They'd range from bronze to black in skin tone. Because the Colovians are basically Nords, the Cyrodilics would reflect the Nibeneans.
Khajiit - http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-first-edition-elsweyr-confederacy. Far more alien-looking. I flippin hate animal races, but they're there.
Yoku - I only suggest changing the body structure, so they aren't black humans but a race. Perhaps insectoid.
Bretons - http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-first-edition-high-rock.

There should be beards for the nordic guys and the males of other races. In addition we would be able to choose from a selection of creative hairstyles, tatoos, face- and bodypaint motives. I very much like to play tribal-style characters. And YES! I do believe in Skyrim, there will be enough opportunity for this. :)

And excuse me for my more or less… mh, rather more… miserable english skills. I’m from Germany and english is not my best language.

I want the Nords to be less annoying and I would like to see the return of gravelly voiced Dunmer.

They need beards. Also, they need to be short. Really short. And wide. And drink lots of ale, with big axes. Maybe axes with ale tankards atop them, so they can fight and kill and take a drink all at once and without putting anything down. They also need a lot of underground cities and rowboats and they should have catapults on their longboats that launch goats.

I picture Nords to be very tall, and very broad. I don't get the underground cities part, as I think they're more apt to live in log cabbins or cottages.

I just hope they don't turn all the Nords into Klingons, which is to say mono-themed warriors who only fight and drink blood wine, er, I mean mead.

I know fans don't like progress, and high fantasy is supposed to have its sacred cows, but if these ideas weren't bad ass, I wouldn't have posted them.

The objective isn't to give fans a boner. The objective is cool. But that's the response I'd expect.

I too agree that Dunmer should sound like the ones from Morrowind and that the Breton's should be less annoying a small.

Don't worry, your english is great!

And I honestly think everything should be kept the same, but Redguards and Orcs need more attention this time around. They are by far not my favorite races, but alot of that is due to the fact that (in my opinion) there isn't much emphasis on their histories or cultures in the series.

But no matter how much light is shed on Orcs, I will never play as one. So freakin' ugly.

Look, I'll only suggest the aesthetics that please me. If they don't please the rest of you, fine. Not like I'm the developers' favorite, or something, and what I say goes.

Earless, because pointed ears are shameful cliche. Shaven, because the Altmer loathe their apish form. Even the ape-men of Tamriel shave to be like the shaven Altmer. Big eyes. Exactly, it's repulsive. That's the response I'd want. My, my. Who'd have thought? The Altmer would have an alien vision of beauty.

Morrowind concepts depict the bosmer horned and black-eyed (one of those heads still exists in Morrowind), while the women are six dolls. Ugly men, pretty women.

Insectoid. Yes. The more I think of it, the better I like it.

Breathing apparatus which covers most of the dunmer's face, chest, and back. Oh-ho, yes. And very ugly face models, to boot.

Fur-less khajiit, which only superficially resemble cats: hell yes.

Grumite-toad argonians are the best idea of all. With lizards out the door, I can sleep at night.

Everyone wins. :hehe:
