I've never made a female character, but for the men at least only short hairstyles were possible, only a tiny bit past the shoulder at the longest perhaps. Mods didn't help either, the only mods I found that gave men long hair made me look like some twisted half female anime man-thing. I want my first Nord warrior character to look like me, so longer hair for men please Bethesda!

The ponytail got to waist length.

You mean besides the fact that in every single game Bosmeri women are taller than bosmeri men?

They were in Oblivion? I did not notice that (or maybe I just forgot). And I have never played Arena or Daggerfall.

Damn, "A lot of hair" and "women" should never be in the same sentence....damn....
But now in seriousness, there needs to be more diverse hair selection, along with facial hair ofcourse, but they need to make it so Armour or Clothes don't cut through the hair like it did in Oblivion...honestly, there's got to be an easy fix for that...personally I think the hair should just be given complete physics...if that would actually work...

Beards, they need beards.

Definitely. Facial hair was [censored] in oblivion. "Hmm, I want a beard so I think i'll make the skin on my chin darker..?"
*edit.* fail. xD

I always liked to think of the Nords as the men of Rohan in Lord of the Rings. Hardy, mead drinking, battle hardened men. I don't necessarily like to think of them as just barbarians (i think orcs are the barbarians of the Elder Scrolls universe just as the dwarves are the barbarians of the Lord of the Rings universe). For example, in the scene in the beginning of Return of the King when they are all drinking to those that died in the battle for helms deep and celebrating, the only thing i could think of was the cheerful drunk Nords in Thirsk drinking nord mead.

Over all, what i'm saying is (the way i picture nords) a Nord should look just as natural wielding a bow and living off of the land as a ranger being equally as skilled in combat as he is in staying hidden, as he would just a drunk bloodthirsty barbarian.

I'm sorry for the lotr references (i'm just trying to relate my mental picture of a nord to something) but i always thought of Aragorn as a full nord, because imperials are mostly just good for nothing, corrupt pantywastes (like the steward of gondor). think about it, he's a badass when it comes to fighting things with his sword, but is equally skilled with a bow, he carries the knowlege to easily live off of the land, fighting is in his nature, and he has nothing but the best intentions which kind of brings me to this next thing... (and no more lotr refrences :D)

Even though nords are generalized as uneducated and quick to kill, have you ever noticed (for the most part... there are always exceptions) that nords are the most light-hearted and loyal of all races? even though they can be ignorant, i always thought that whatever ignorance was present was born from their love of their homeland. and since their homeland is skyrim, i think their light-hearted, festive side can be brought out more in this game than the others since the nords have nothing to complain about, because the way i see it, there is nothing happier in all of tamriel than a mead drinking nord living it up in his home province of skyrim. but also if you think about it, since people grow and develop their nature, a nord who's nature is in adventuring and travel is perfectly content living off the land and never having the burden of having to be confined to one home, and these are usually the more open-minded, skilled, and educated nords. i really hope we see nords in a new light in this game. they are of course my favorite race.

and to all of those that like the idea of nords actually being ignorant barbarians, i'm not saying that a lot of them aren't. I'm just saying that i always saw that there is more nords, and they can a little bit more of a multi-talented race even though people might not give them credit for it.

oh and one more thing, and perhaps most important: BEARDS

i don't know if this makes sense, i just kind of put down whats on my mind, and i'm not going to proof read it haha.

Yeah remember in oblivion when you walk out of bruma to go take down the oblivion gate and all the nords are cheering you on? I feel like most other people would be like kvatch-folk

I always go with the Redguard since I'm black. Please add beards. I want my character to look like me. I have a biker style beard, and an afro. Make the fros better .

Overall, there should be more variation between the races. Nords were slightly taller than Bretons and Imperials, but there wasn't much of anything that really drew them apart from one another. The orcs definitely need some work. Make them look scarier please, and not like humans. Same goes for Argonians and Khajiits. The elves seemed fine to me, except for the dark elves. They were like high elves, but a bit shortter and blue. Have the always been blue? Kind of stupid in my opinion.

I picture Nords to be very tall, and very broad. I don't get the underground cities part, as I think they're more apt to live in log cabbins or cottages.

That was satire. I mixed dwarves and vikings together in order to get it. Viking longboats throwing goats is an in-joke in a different game community, but the rest (especially the bit about ale tankards attached to axes) should still have clued you in that it wasn't at all serious.

Except the part about beards. They really do need beards.

as always complete overhaul to the model graphics and physics to clearly differentiate betweeen each unique race.

this would of course mean that nords are taller and have plenty of beards

This isn't a look thing, but for Christ's sake do not use the same voice actors for more than one race again. Orcs should not sound like Nords and Altmer should not sound like Dunmer!
