How should the series end?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 2:20 pm

I've been mulling this over in my head for a while now, and it seems like piece (of a sort) and organization, is starting to slowly return. Soon enough, it'll all start becoming one big civilized nation again. I can't speak for any of out, but I don't want the series to go into this, I don't want to continue into the glory days of the NCR and eventually watch the world descend into another nuclear world. SO my question is this: when the money stops rolling in, and the end begins again, how do you want the series to end?

End?
The west coast storyline had their whole Unity, Enclave, NCR, Legion thing going on with them.
So it could be possible for that story to tie itself up.
But now it's split into three sides.
Western storyline, 3 games.
Mid-western storyline, 1 game.
Eastern storyline, 1 game.

So an "ending"?
I don't think it's possible for Fallout to ever have an "ending" ending.
A storyline from a game might tie itself up but there is no actual story connecting the games.
Just the Fallout universe.
And that universe simply cannot end unless an evil ending which includes killing every single living organism on the planet is the canon ending.

Yes in a few thousand more years of Fallout History there will be global economy and all this good stuff but until then they can keep making games and rolling in dough. But have the series end with this new modern world ending in Nuclear Fire.

Although it will be hard for Globalization to take place again as most vessels on the Ocean would Coal or Age of Sails type vessels cause there is not that much natural oil, unless of course pressure from nuclear explosion sped up teh process or something.

They do not have to use fossil fuels... there is fusion technology they could tap into once they get the infrastructure set up to produce it on large scale.

Something big should happen and the game should end with PC being the big hero.

And whole fallout will turn into real super advanced mess if they dont stop.

End? No, I really think however that the timeline should freeze, we should just jump around to new locations around the US so we can see whats else is going on in the country.

If it ends, the ending ought to be disappointing and anti-climactic on purpose. I think that would be the only spirited way to close the series.

Something like 'and so the Lone Wanderer ventured forth again into the wilderness of the pre-apocalyptic lands of the NCR, unaware that he had sett eh stage for the world to begin anew its destructive nature. In a blink the entire nations of the world went up again in a blaze of light and destruction, and deep in the mountains of California; a vault is closed, preparing for war. Because war, war never changes'

I just hope it ends before Ron Perlman dies.

Well the main Fallout was to End with Van Buren, by main I mean the story of the Vault Dweller would come to an end. Then there was going to be many other fallouts like, Fallout Tactics two and Fallout extreme. Since there is no main story anymore just underlying themes its possible it could keep going but I really do hope it does not keep going on forever because the more the timeline gets away from the Great War the less Fallout it becomes. At some point super mutants will die off. People will learn not to become ghouls by staying away from radiation and America will rebuild itself. Like gabriel77dan said there are still many games that can be made, I want one more at least for the Midwestern united states.

Just keep it going through my lifetime heh....

Or two cute little humanoid monkeys (or lizards or dog or cat critters, Whatever heh) scampering among the decaying ruin and moulding skeletons of a once great great human city... One picks up an fragment of metal to throw at the other to chase it away from a fruit bush it has its sight on, the unstable grenade explodes, vaporising its target and the bush... A knowing gleam apears in the first creatures eyes as it begins looking for more of the metal rocks...

Because it never does change does it

Only good ending for Fallout would be some utterly depressing scenario. Like another apocalypse, but without vaults or anything to save humanity.

Cover the story of the U.S.
Reboot the series in another country and let us learn what happened there the day the nukes dropped, before and after.

Simple enough, right?

Simple how?
The U.S is like 50% of the north american continent.
And the story?
What story?

Black Isle was going to end the main story started by the Vault Dweller in FO1 in Van Buren aka FO3. Then they were going to make other fallout games like FO Extreme and FO Tactics two, Brotherhood of Steel two and even an online fallout. Thats the first time I have seen anything were they were thinking of making a FO4. Since there is no evidence of it other then that one line I can't help but feel it was something said in passing during an interview.

Fallout does not need to make the main character a "Vault dweller". I like the idea of exploring how society develops in the different areas with all of the crazy ideals factions have.

Anyway the game should continue for two or three main series(thry should go up the timeline) and have more spin offs made in different areas which take place before the main series games.

Easy.
Do the the story in North America.
Then, once the series needs to be refreshed, take Fallout to Beijing, London, Paris. Wherever. And let us learn about what was happening with those societies behind the scenes in the days leading up to the Great War, and how their societies rebuilt afterward.
