How should they market TES VI--With a character or with the

Did the 'nord with a sword and armor' make people lean more towards that playstyle?

He's already the first thing you see when you look up anything parodying or mentioning the game.

How do you think TES: VI should be marketed? With a character of a specific race/class? Or just the logo? Or a signature monster? (Basically, what's the perfect image to slap in the background of the TES: VI forums like the nord is in the background here for Skyrim)

I'll go first:
Spoiler
I think the 'holy crap dragons' appeal was too tempting to have anything but some traditional 'dude with a sword' as that's what everyone is most used to seeing. Oblivion's big appeal was 'holy crap big fiery hell gates,' which didn't have a trope or archtype associated with it, so the daedric symbol was effective all on its own; along with gameplay of every type of gameplay in even amounts.

I think the best strategy would be let the logo and the scenery do the talking as to what the game is about. These are games are more about the settings than the protagonist, I think. If there's any 'face time,' there should be a lot of it; mix up those classes and races! Even if there's mostly one race in TES: VI, show the audience their options and how all of them are worth considering :]

Now you go :{D~
