How should I go with a One Handed fighter?

I have a few questions

Xbox 360

1. I recently lied to rest my character of two years after I suffered loss of half progress twice:

Level 38 to Level 18

Level 36 to Level 19

He was a Heavy armored archer, using melee only when absolutely necessary,, mostly soul trapping, and only using light magic

I thoroughly enjoyed him and the way I played as him.

2. I decided this time I would use One-Handed weapons, Archery when more convenient, as well as magic.

So, how should I go about leveling my magic, because I haven't much, and I'm up to level 19 again already, so enemies are getting tougher.

Is Faendal then only follower you can use to exploit the training with?

A little confused, are you trying to level magic, or archery. (because you asked about Faendal) What magical skill are wanting to level? Destruction, Illusion, Restoration, etc? You need to use them to level them. Any follower/trainer can be exploited, but iirc, there are no followers who are trainers for magical skills.

Umm No... if you want to lvl up magic, via trainer, go to the CoW...the trainers are there. There are a couple in other places, court wizzards, but the school is the best place. A few are followers and one of the best "mage" followers in the game ( I prefer Marcurio, but... ) ** cough*** hair ball.... lol... Neither is a trainer. Using the skills is often the best way to raise them... very few of my mage characters go to the CoW or need training, just spell's.

Well, Areial

I did word that confusingly

I suppose more of what I was asking would be like are there any places where there would more likely be enemies I'd be competent to fight at my level, but with low-level magic, so I can level it, while not getting wrecked. Mostly Destruction I suppose, as Restoration, Conjuration, and Illusion just level with general use, right?

I got ya now. My main PC is a one handed spell sword. I use mostly destruction and restoration. (flames in combat and healing to recover) To level up one handed and destruction I just started clearing dungeons as much as possible, including going back over dungeons I'd already cleared after they reset. I avoided main quest lines until I was at a point I was happy with.

I may do that, then. except instead of using both at the same time, (sword and spells), I would feel safer using a shield and a spell, or do you think spellsword-ing will give me a better chance?
