Since I discovered METV, an American free over-the-air television station that airs classic TV shows, I have been wondering about how to start up a free, over-the-air station for 24 hour anime shows in America. I have no clue how to go about this nor the inclination, but if someone with the means and wherewithal picked up on the idea, I would be happy
METV is carried digitally by local TV stations (4.3 (NBC) in my location). I do not know how, maybe they are paid by METV to carry it? Anyway, METV has national and local advertising, so ad time is another form of income.
Anyway, think about the fun this station could have. You could start with 4, 6 hour blocks of time to make up the 24 hour schedule. Maybe a block (or two) of "Robot Anime", a block of "Magic Anime", a block of "Otherworldly Anime" and so forth. You could have more kid friendly anime's in the early mornings and later afternoons, Movies on the weekends, and the decision between "sub" and "dub" could be handled by showing dubs in one slot and dubs in another on the same day, maybe one right after the other
Maybe even produce an "Anime News" cast on current anime happenings?
I think this is a GREAT idea, being an anime fan of sorts. What do you folks think?
