How to stop Mr Handy units from getting Synthkilled?

A recurring problem I have is with Synths (or sometimes other enemies) killing friendly robots.

Just so I could keep enjoying the silliness of the Convalescent Home Front Desk Attendant, I put considerable effort into trying to keep him alive.

I built a suit of power armor specifically to resist energy damage, took a High Speed Shredding Minigun, gave the same weapon to Macready, positioned him to catch them in a crossfire.

IT DID NOT WORK.

After 5 more failed attempts, I gave up.

No matter how hard I try, I can't defeat the Synths in time to stop them killing the CHFDA.

I've made the decision to avoid this place until I have a solution, one way or another.

And it has caused more significant problems elsewhere.

Greygarden has already lost two Mr Handy units to Synth attacks.

And they just keep coming, they are scripted to attack on a regular basis.

If this keeps up, they'll have removed most of my workforce.

I'm hoping the named Mr Handys are immune to death......

Then there was Peepers, who is my one success story.

This is an eyebot used by the Atom Cats.

After much trial and error, I managed to bring the Gunners down before they can harm Peepers.

At least, I assumed I did, since I didn't see his broken shell on the ground.

Does anyone know a way to stop NPCs getting killed in battle?

I tried the setessential console command, but it appears the syntax has been changed for Fallout 4, since the console keeps giving me an error message.

I'm adding a Repair/Reboot "dead" mechs function to my list of desired mods now.

Perhaps try resurrecting them with console. Will have to look it up

Synths sound like a menace. Eradicate them

Alternativly you cud just go overboard with the defences(turrets are your friends) in that settlement since the defence rating determines how often if ever will they be attacked.(i think there is a small chance of attack regardless of the defence rating but you can basicly make it extremly rare occurance)

Lets say your settlement in question produces 20 food and 10 water which wud mean minimal defence needed is 30 but why stop there make it like x4 required if that settlemnt is causing you issiues than the attacks should almost never happen and even if they do those turrets will kill everything in matter of seconds which should prevent frendly casualities.

NPC console commands are disabled in Fallout 4.

I know because the first thing I tried was to ressurrect them when they die.

Second solution of setting them to essential also fails.

Unfortunately, Mr Handy units tend to go a lot Leroy Jenkins when enemies arrive.

They won't stay in range of the turrets, they charge the enemy group as soon as it appears!

That's why I'm having so much trouble keeping them alive, they get to the enemy first!

Hm as i said while not a perfect solution buffing up the defences should still help since the settlment wont get atacked as often(or even ever) but yeah about them charging into enemies than only thing you an do is be faster than them and kill fast(i know thats not a good advice but kinda the only option left, but def do build up some serius defence ratings first though to try and minimize/eliminate atacks on those settlments.
