How strong should dragons be ?

Not too sure, but dragons should be nothing short of the strongest foes in the game save a few god-like npc's.

Dragons should be strong and powerful because.. they are dragons? I would rather take a handful of warriors and hunters with me into a cave to defeat these beasts!

In my opinion, Dragons should be amazingly powerful.

It should be a tremendous accomplishment to slay one, ever.
Agreed!

Weeell, I would say that there should be weaker dragons that you can beat earlier (yet being powerful for your level) and very powerful ones. But I don't have idea of how it will be. It has been said that dragons can atack villages, And I don't think that they will be able to turn the entire village to ashes, so the guards (with your help) can put the dragon down. Imagine if a dragon that you can not kill til level 50 atacks a village when you are at the beggining of the game...

When I see a dragon.

I want to feel the same reaction with Deathclaws in FONV. Oh **** **** I just went the wrong way **** ****! RUN! WAIT Veronica don't go aft-[Veronica dies horribly]......nevermind. [Pause, load, continue]

Only much worse, but with more flying and fire.

I voted for 50+ without some sort of critical hit function. Dragons should provide a huge challenge to all but the most powerful characters and should have very little margin for error. If you are at a lower level you can kill one but only with hits to specific vital spots.

By having the vital spots/targets this allows weaker low level characters the chance to get a kill but it is very hard until you get to higher levels. Also, but making the dragons tough, it forces players to develop some sort of combat skills (magic, ranged or melee) beyond what is necessary to clear a few dungeons to make money.

I voted "other" for both categories. I think if we're going to have dragons, we should have them possibly attack at any level. They should be relatively rare, though. There shouldn't be a dragon in every dungeon or wilderness area you go in other words. That would get old quick.

To the 2nd one, I think it should be possible for a baker or the town fool (or whatever) to possibly take down a dragon, especailly if it's a weaker wyvern or dragon imp or something, but the fight should be virtually impossible for such a character to win. In other words, anything is possible, but something on the level of a dragon (or mammoth) would be pretty much impossible for such a character. Winning against such a foe would require such a huge stroke of skill and luck, that it should be virtually impossible.

And if it's a full scale giant dragon, one swipe of its paw or one successful fire attack should be able to wipe out such a character, assuming this character is not carrying any magical aids or proper armor. You don't go into the wilderness unprepared!

I think always about 6 levels higher or perhaps higher? then the PC's Level, so it will still be scaling, but the dragons will always be one better. So when fighting them you will still get a nerve-racking experience.

I know what you're trying to say, but when its worded like that all I can picture are bandit dragons dressed in full mystically enchanted glass.

I'm all for it being plausible at 20-30's. If ya mess up or get careless you should die. Anything before that is asking for trouble, and you'd need to be seriously lucky. As you get into the 40's and 50's I'd like to see some bigger dragons show up to challenge us, but a few of the small fry flying around as well so it feels like we are making some progress.

For the powerful dragons I certainly hope that being near level 40 is required. I suspect that there will be multiple types (it has been said that they are fairly common) with the weakest ones being manageable by the average town guard (all working together). That is assuming that there are not four attacking at once with a more powerful dragon using the distraction to get the real target. I figure the first major takedown or two will be an arranged situation where you get an advantage (already injured, a prepared trap, or something like that). Of course by that point you will have already needed to deal with some of the weaker ones running (or flying) about in greater numbers.

I think this will be very hard to judge given that we have Dragon Shouts - and no one knows how strong or weak those will be. In fighting dragons, a weak player with no equipment may be able to best a dragon if they have high-level dragon shouts.

I "assume" they will be among the strongest of enemies, but we'll see.

Don't you get them by killing dragons? :S

Anyway, at 15 it should be a remote possibility, then at 25 a challenge, and 35-50 moderate.

I'm fine with them levelling at that point, because you should never, ever 1-shot a dragon.

They should be a set level until level 45+ and then they should AT LEAST be 5 levels above you.

I think that dragons should insta-gib anyone below level 20 at least. They should prolong MQ so we must develop our characters in order to fight dragons...

Dragon's should be forces to be reckoned with. The beginning of any dragon battle should be met with uncertainty. Uncertain whether you will make it out alive. You should have to retreat from them in battle sometimes.

I want to run scared witless from them and hide in ruins and caves and stuff until I am prepared to face them.

I think some dragons would be incredibly difficult to take down, and some able to tackle at by level 5
the lower level ones should be trying to kill you, while the high level ones should be guardians.

I disagree, your first dragon battle should be met with certainty. Certain that if you don't turn around and book it to the nearest cave that you will die

To add to my opinions I kinda look at it like this.

If a dragon looks at a creature and think "pff I can just swat that fly away like it′s nothing" and I as the player don′t have the same thought then I should not be able to take on the dragon. For example if the creature in question is a bear, and I′m only of equal fighting prowess to the bear then the dragon should swat me away just as easily as it would the bear, but when I′m strong enough to look at the bear as a weakling like the dragon would then I could try match up to the dragon.

Kinda unrealistic if we get to fight dragons at level 5, and to have to run from a wolf after having slain a dragon.

I see what you did there. :3

I love the idea of having to run and hide from them early on.

With all this talk on how strong dragons should be (which i agree with) reminds me of how much i dislike the difficulty slider. I mean if the dragons are as strong as i hope they are, im prolly gonna move it down to easy and 1 shot em, even though i dont want to. or i wish atleast they was somthing more to get on hard then just the challenge. lol

I'm hoping that you'll have to outright run from them at least until level 15 or so.

Deathclaws in New Vegas were almost perfect. I was scared to death of them for the first time in forever. Until I was strong enough with my unarmed character to punch them to death with a powerfist.(It was fun but I miss the fear.)

Even if you are at the highest level possible you should always have a tough life or death battle on you'r hands, even if it gets easier over time.
