How strong is your side preference in the civil war?

I'm curious if most people are firmly committed to one side or the other, or if they are simply choosing what they perceive to be "the lesser of two evils.

I do both sides, but tend to lean towards the Stormcloaks. Having my head arbitrarily lopped off tends to make me not like that form of Government :)

There are good and bad characters in each faction, but overall, I think the right to rule one's own country is pretty solid.

both have a valid pres & cons

but I usually side with the Empire because Ulfric's little "Coup d'etat" really did nothing other than help the dominion in the long run..

the only reason the Emperor signed the White-gold Concordant was to get time to rebuild the legion (which was wrecked during the Battle of the Red Ring) and go back to war with the Dominion, it (and its conditions) were Temporary..

then Ulfric Starts his rebellion and all those greenhorns that are being sent to help stabilize Skyrim are dying at the hands of their should-be allies instead of preparing for the next big war, meanwhile the Dominion is gathering their forces while their enemies are killing themselves..

whats Ulfrics major excuse? right to Worship Talos? the Empire turned a blind eye to Talos Worship after the treaty, but Ulfrics actions forced the Empire to crack down on it.. if Ulfric hadn't done what he did, people would not be punished for Talos worship..

Depending on how fast the Rebellion is defeated, the Empire might still have a chance against the Dominion, but an Independent Skyrim under Stormcloak rule? yeah not gonna have much of a chance..

Remember, the only thing stopping the Dominion from swarming Skyrim is the treaty, and an invasion by them would cost the lives of many innocents... second the SC's gained Control, it is very likely the Dominion would start preparing forces

I am not saying the empire is perfect, but in Tamriels current polticial state, Skyrims Citizens are far better off under Imperial Rule, both in the big picture (as i just mentioned), and the small picture (talk to the people in Whiterun after capping it for the SC's, notice how so many peoples lives have become harder?)

Though I've sympathized with the Stormcloaks, I never participated in the civil war. By the end of the MQ the DB becomes so powerful that petty squabbles are beneath them.

At this point, I can basically see reasons to pick either side. But personally, I prefer the Empire. And funnybunny put it best.

I see good points in both of them, good characters and story behind both of them, but I go with the Empire.

I take a lot of points off the Stormcloaks due to the "True Nord" thing, considering their pantheon is the Imperial one and Talos is also an Imperial god the Empire has having a hard time converting them to back during Oblivion.

Course all my characters live in the same world so I have not done the CW line in a long time, just have a save with only the Empire side done that I load up when I want to make a new character.

To be honest don't see either side as the correct one, just, well as the poll put it "Lesser of the two evils." And at the current time dividing themselves will just make everyone weaker as a whole and the Thalmor stronger, it's the time to unite themselves against the greater evil.
