How Tall Are We?

Post » Sat Jan 22, 2011 3:14 am

I actually thought you were being sarcastic. I would only add that famous people are not necessarily the same as great people.

Well, I don't particularly adore them, either. Yeah, they don't exactly earn the title of "Great" but I was thinking of a bunch of short people, and they came to my mind. :P

Well, clearly this poll is only geared towards the members which aren't under the effects of a genetic mutation.. :P

Im kidding, don't stomp me! :ahhh:

Edit: @ Grim: Don't worry, I jumped about an inch between 16 and 17 to reach 5 '7 and now that Im almost 18 I've grown to roughly 5 '8.

To help grow, you might want to exercise very regularly, get plenty of sleep, drink a lot of milk, and get plenty of calcium and protein in your body in general, and hang from a bar (by your hands ofcourse) for a brief amount of time every day.

But remember, there's nothing wrong with being short. Some people are much more efficient shorter than taller. Jockeys for example. Also, congratz on the second star. Won't be too long till your third!

El oh el you must mean 1.98 meters.

Or metres, I guess, if you want to be TECHNICAL (weird) about it.

Well, if you dislike their work, or disrespect them, you cannot deny their popularity and success. Their height hasn't stopped them from gaining that. I can relate to that. Imagine a world in which you have to be 5 '10 to even be accepted. Bring in a 5 '6 guy like Tom Cruise. Would you expect him to go anywhere? Nope. But did he? Yes. He was the highest paid actor for several years, or atleast one year, IIRC.

Only people in Hollywood that are successful and are above 6'2 or so are ex-athletes, or something.

Honestly, I never thought height has anything to do with success.

It doesn't in general. But in certain industries and career paths (e.g modeling, acting, etc.) it gives you an edge if you're 5 '10 or above. The fact that the shorter people overcame that is a huge deal. Let's face it, Tom Cruise isn't the best actor ever. He's a "pretty-boy". So is Brad Pitt (who I believe is around 5 '11 or so). So the fact that even though Brad Pitt had a higher chance of success, Tom Cruise came out on top.

See what I mean now? It's only in this certain industry. Im not saying the taller you are, the better engineer you'll be. Or the shorter you are, the better doctor you'll be. Im saying that it's respectable if someone overcomes an odd. In the case stated above, the odd in question was height.

I'm 6'3", but the percentage of males answering as over 6 feet tall just is not right. I think more than a few people here are lying, that's just not normal having that many people at that height.

We have many Dutch and Nordics here. They raise the bar. Plus, I know loads of people who are roughly 6 feet.

Either the average person is far larger than I estimated or going to a Bethesda Game Studios Convention would be a bad idea if I don't want to feel like a hobbit.

Elongate, you leg bones. I have demanded it of you, so do so!

Nords! I knew this was all because of Skyrim! All Nords on Earth joined this forum and are now flaunting their stature. Us regular Imperials and Bretons have no chance... Also that one Bosmer girl flitting around somewhere.. :P

Rmctagg09, would you find it racist if I said "he is a Redguard"?

Maybe the verb of "Assassin's Creed" is "Creedally Assassinate"

Well, no, since that would be what I am in terms of TES lore.

That sounds about right. Or "Assassinate under the guidance of the Creed"

Anyway, in terms of TES lore, I'd say Im probably an Ashlander..
