How Tall Are We?

Post » Sat Jan 22, 2011 3:33 am

The problem is not standard or metric, the problem is no standard. Government and military is generally metric along with some industry commerce. Yet much of the commerce is in standard.

The problem is that the american system is illogical and confusing. <_<

5'10" (5'9" when slouching). That's 177.8 cm for the rest of the world

Your military uses metric because they know it's the better system.

As far as the poll goes, I'm the second-shortest person on BGSF so far. Huzzah!

Am about 146-147 cms.

183cm. In the morning. And proud of it.
Who's the other Viking woman here? ^_^

This is sooo not fair. If I'm only 5' 2'', no women should be allowed to be that tall. :pinch: What does it feel like to be able to reach those high shelves without asking for help? Must be pretty awesome. I'm jealous!

Oh believe me, I know how you feel about asking for help about things on high shelves. I always have to stare pitifully from my co-waiter to the champagne glasses at work, to subtly get the point across.

I remember when I was working at a gaming store that, not only could I not reach high shelves without a stepladder, my eyesight failed me and the words were almost always blurry.

Yes, confusing when dealing internationally. A colleague of mine in Birmingham UK was somewhat confused by a QA report sent to him by our lab. Our vendor provided specs in standard measurement. The plant in the UK had application prints in metric. Sorry about that, Roger.

Your military uses metric because they know it's the better system.

Of course. Meters and kilometers are much simpler to use on the battlefield.

So considerate of you! I would've had to have taken out my stepladder otherwise. :P

I'm just curious as to who chose the <4'9" option. D:

Mind, I know two girls who are of equal height, and an inch shorter than me. Both work together - as strippers. I'm clearly taking the wrong career path.

6' exactly. At least that's what I was told in football. I may be a little shorter since they try to make you taller than you really are. They gave me an extra 10 pounds as well. The only thing they didn't give me was the extra second in the 100 yd dash.... lame. <_<
