How the Bots work

I understand you know having the AI not wanting to steal everything from you, but the thing is they aren't just a bit dumbed down the AI is pretty much blind freaking stupid. I mean they always seem to care more about a command post than getting the Objective done leaving me all alone to get killed. Especially when i am trying to hack something. Its not so bad in the first half of the campaigns but in the second half it is next to impossible, even on easy difficulty you will pretty much get curb stomped alot cause you have little to no support. I think if possible that there needs to be an AI update

I have played with the patched version. The AI are much better now for the steam version vs the xbox version (the two i can test on)

And the level 2 challenges are no longer near impossible past level 15 if you didn't do them (for some reason lol)


I'm level 14. And Rank 3.

I have almost all engi upgrades and universal upgrades/abilities.

I guess Patch fixes for you all, but I had to download a patch on Xbox before I got online with the game.


The patch has not been released for the xbox and ps3 versions to my knowlege yet. You should expect to see it soon. I can only attest to the steam patch.

I said VS the xbox version. I see the missleading context though - but i want to clarify that bit ;)

the enemy bots are hard as hell


graciously agree here, at level 19 they play a game called hedge trimming! where your face is the hedge that needs to be trimmed! they are 100x more aggressive than human players, well playing versus, open to all, the bots are executioners, one engineer bot i saw got 16k exp points at the end of a match... wth!?!

But that's the Beauty of the Bots. They are only as hard as you let them be.

It's like Legendary Modes on Halo, Hell Difficulty on Diablo 2, I think Epic Difficulty on Gears 1 and 2? it's tough, but you get a good band of rag tag team mates, and you're looking at a PLEASING fight that isn't over in 2 minutes with you all dead, and they already ransacked the objective.

Lol I personally think the turrets could stand to use a faster turn rate. they die with 1 grenade as it is. and what are the chances that 1 of the 8 people don't have one they haven't thrown in the last 15 seconds?

I think there should be separate toggles for bot difficulty and bots completing and/or assisting in completing primary, secondary and/or tertiary objectives.

So you could make a server with scary-ass bots that don't complete any objectives, or ones that just go after CPs, or ones that just open up shortcuts, or heck, even ones where they do everything and you hang back and practice healing while dodging.

Actually, I would like a much more in-depth bot customization menu, where you can decide the body types, weapon preferences, class bias, and general personality (push / turtle / lone wolf).

in my opinion i think they just need to make bots (enemy and friendly) more comparable. for instance, on normal difficulty, an 8 vs 8 bot match should be about an equal match (yes i know that is not really possible to have all bots just saying as an example). on easy difficulty, the friendly bots should be better than enemy bots. on hard, the enemy bots should be better than friendly bots.

right now i feel like it takes a great performance from me to get myself and several friendly bots alive to the objective, which is okay. attacking is supposed to be harder than defending. however, when i get there and start hacking or doing the objective, my friendly bots all die and i am left with no one to defend me while i do the objective. i play on normal and this consistently happens. they should be able to hold the position most of the time while i complete the objective.

not to sound demeaning but i think those of you who are unable to beat levels on easy are not very good at shooters or are taking the wrong approach. i have played on easy at both high and low levels and i find it much easier to beat missions. on normal, however, the game can be at times ridiculously hard to play solo at higher levels. when i played on normal with one of my friends, it suddenly became fairly easy. friendly bots were not any better, but just one teammate that could hold off enemy bots made all the difference.

They need to tone down the enemy AI a bit. At least not make their aim 100% accurate from any distance.

As soon as a fire a shot at enemy AI, I have about half a second to kill them or they will gun me down with an SMG across the map.

Me and my 2 sons 8 and 12 all love BRINK .......its CHOCKED FULL OF AWESOMENESS and would change nothing with the gameplay, AI's or the weapons. Well done for creating a first person shooter game that is out of the norm from most FP shooter games. The SMART freedom of movement is full wickid and the team based scenario with buffing team mates and capturing command posts to give your team the advantage is a brilliant idea to keep all campaigners busy for the complete mission.

The only thing we would like to see is more CARNAGE when hitting the enemy with an onslaught of bullets, grenades, cocktails and landmines etc. We want to see limbs being blown off when the enemy steps on a landmine, we want to see brains and blood splattered over the wall behind the enemy when he is shot in the head with a Hjammerdeim shotgun at close range, we want to see them rolling on the ground while engulfed in flames from a molotov cocktail. Admittedly we got a bit more excited when we unlocked the grenade mastery, frag blast and grenade damage abilities, the explosions were a bit more impressive and do more damage with a greater damage radius, but more carnage wouldnt go astray.

The way I have heard it explained make it sounds like a really well thought out method for programming the AI, but when it comes down to it, the AI is just too frustrating to deal with.

Bump'd for great justice. AI still needs damn fixing, not quite there yet. I don't want to have to keep going online and playing Versus for it to be anywhere near balanced.
