Hello all I'm on the quest were I have to kill Gaius Maro and I'm an assassin and playing on master, I can't seem to kill him w/o getting caught, I tried killing him from spots were I was detected had no luck some how the guards still knew it was me. He never gose to sleep, back then when i did this mission way back and on I think adept or lower I had no problem. I think it has to be bugged no way I get caught when I'm not being detected.

I can kill him pretty easy if I know what potions to use with bow and ETC but as I said above I still get caught even when I'm not detected, by this I mean I see red dots after I kill him so I waited till its clear then I test and go to talk ot a guard nothing happens 1st time second time boom they start attacking me.


Am I doing something wrong? should I try planting the note on him first then see if that fixs it or is that suppose to happen and I'm suppose to go back to db to hand in quest and after that everything should be fine?

Its extremely hard to kill him without getting noticed. Try to put poisons in his pocket when he's asleep at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun.

Maro does sleep, or at least he did in my game, I used my swords he woke up and attacked. When I killed him I had no bounty, nothing against me. If you grab his time sheet it may help you get the times down easier so you can plan accordingly.

I just talked to him and he decided to attack me so the guard nearby decided to kill him for me

You have to kill him before he makes it to the palace if you want to have any hope of not being detected

Gotta hate when you make a post asking a quesiton ETC, and u manager to do it next try w/o getting caught. Lol I did the same thing this time and didn't get caught weird how other time I did, anyways what I did was got up on to a high rock in whiterun and use parayze potions on him keep hitting him with arrows and put perk into bow tree which i should done long ago, with the slow and zoom perk it was easy. Thanks for the reply and info I be sure to put that to good use next time.

Took me forever to get him killed. After the 15th try I just said screw it and shot him. I'm glad I had already became the Guild Master to reduce my bounty, that and I had 100k+ septims at the time.

Talk to him. He'll attack you and then you can fight back or wait for someone else to kill him.
