How the patches affecting everyone's game!

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:07 am

As we all know some people may get one bug while others may get a different bug, some might get a load of bugs while some may get none.
But what I find curious since the install of patch 1.2 is the following,

Some people are reporting and I have experienced it myself that the draw distance (in the wilds/outdoors) has been reduced, I am assuming to help with stability and texture loading.
I liked the draw distance and the lack of pop up we had originally but I hated my weapon/shield and hand textures, can we really only have one or the other?
Is it impossible to fix textures without reducing the draw distance, will this affect other gamers who have no issues?
Maybe I would not mind so much if the draw distance and pop up was not so in your face (trees/towers/houses) and more gradual, should we expect a fix to textures and stability without sacrificing the draw distance we had originally. Are Bethesda admitting defeat?

This is my opinion from my gaming since patch 1.2 and some other gamers may agree or disagree, lets discuss.

The only thing there is to fix is to lower your expectations on what 5, almost 6, year old (and outdated) hardware is capable of. You can't have your cake and eat it too with the Xbox 360.

I am well aware of that but the point of my post was this,

If pre patch 1.2 the draw distance was fine and the only issue I had (besides misc bugs) was the texture issue on just my hands/weapons and a few other items (most of the world looked amazing), could they not fix this small texture issue without messing with the draw distance (I am sure it is possible on my ageing platform)? Also some people had no texture issue yet I am assuming some will have the reduced draw distance now! Are they just taking the easy quick fix option?

Considering patch 1.2 and 1.3 both break mechanics of the game, I'm sticking with 1.1 until Bethesda can learn how to properly patch a game. I'm sorry, but no matter how much you want to defend Bethesda, patches should never fix one thing then break something else. No other companies consistently release patches that further break their games, especially not any other triple-a developers.

The third patch is out already for steam. It should come soon on consoles which fixes all of my previous issues including ice shards and arrows remaining stuck in my character until I block a few ranged attacks.

Not trolling, really?
They had 3 years to make this game, if it couldn't work on xbox then they shouldn't have made it for xbox!
I am positive they could fix this without sacrificing anything, being happy to just have the game is a stupid reply!

probably an easy temp fix till they can get enough data and solutions to permently fix both problems. It makes sence that your seeing 1 or the other above issues, reducing drawback distance increases textures your seeing because of minimal data whatever, where as it's the opposite for the other, increasing drawback distance lowers graphics closest to you. This happens with alot of open world games like GTA where it sometimes takes a bit or quite a while for graphics to properly texture themselves. My beliefs on the subject I could be very wrong.

hmm
you guys do realize the 360 was lead platform on this one?
didn't the weird PC interface tip you off that you were playing a console port?
XD (<- that's me laughing at you guys)

I sort everything out before each patch to make sure I give it the best chance to work as possible, remember that pre patch 1.2 the draw distance and graphics were fantastic except for a few low textures. It was working before, can it work again?

Why do you feel the need to say this, I play on the xbox 360 due to better/more people on xbox to talk to whilst playing, prefer the controls for xbox (I know you can use a xbox controller for pc but its just more hassle). Also don't want to waste money on upgrading/buying a new pc to play games like this, I like to play most other games on xbox as well, assassins creed, fifa for example, which would be terrible on pc IMO.

I would rather have the things mentioned above, than mods and better graphics if your willing to spend 3x the price of an xbox.

Before patch 1.2, my game was perfect, but after I have so many little bugs that ruin the game. I'm waiting for 1.3 and then starting again hoping that some of the bugs will be fixed.

That's exactly what I thought it might be, I hope your are proved right on it being a temp fix, that I can live with.

Skill enchantments. If you have over an 100% increase on a skill from enchantments it will worsen the skill instead of improving it.

Shhhh, you'll hurt their feelings, they somehow feel that playing on a PC makes them superior to us meaningless Xbox players!

Botom line is: they sold it on Xbox/PS3, they better make sure it works on Xbox/PS3, and since we can't return it once opened, they better make sure it is exactly as they described/showed us, or its basically a legal fraud.

I really don't want this thread to turn into a platform war, there is no need to bash the xbox or slate it for being too old.
I have stated that the game was running fantastic with just a few bad textures pre patch 1.2 so it seems realistic to me for Bethesda to be able to fix this without messing up the stability and draw distance. Also as others have stated, the xbox was a lead platform for this game which means Bethesda were happy and confidant to make the game for the platform.

Really!? This is being added in 1.3, [censored]s sake why can't they test it out properly. I usually restrict myself to one or two [fortify weapon] enchants, but it's really irritating that they add these bugs.
