I want the FONV experience, but that was an Obsidian production, so I would expect FO4 to sit somewhere between FO3 and FONV in terms of engine/gameplay/story - learning from FONV and its success, but not moving on past it.
I assume he means she had depth and lots of polish to her, not neccesarily that she was a work of art that should win awards for great writing. I hated her writing personally, but you do have to acknowledge that she did have depth and detail to her.
I'm hoping, praying, wishing that the companions get the New Vegas treatment... anything less would be very disappointing.
Serana wasn't too bad, she just annoyed me with rezzing the dead. I killed them often, because I thought there was another draugr in the room LOL But then again, she wasn't a regular companion, she was the main protagonist in a DLC, so she better had some depth to her.
The reason I didn't include Serena in to my considerations when making the Skyrim poll option is that as mentioned above she was a DLC main character and not a regular companion, so it wouldn't make any sense for her to be a shallow character. I'm torn between the functional New Vegas wheel system for companion interaction or a more realistic text/speech system.
I expect the answer most accurate answer will be "poorly." Bethesda has never been good at handeling companions. I HOPE for fully fleshed out flawed people but I don't expect this will be the case.
I do not anticipate, by default, the companions will be handled very well. They are most likely going to be foot soldiers and pack mules like in other Bethesda titles. I'd prefer them to be like the companions in FNV.
However, it's just as likely the modding community will present at least 1 or 2 fleshed out, well-developed companions if Fallout 4's are lack-luster.
Hopefully it's like New Vegas. I never cared for my followers in FO3 and Skyrim outside of Serena
They did make Lydia a marriage option in Skyrim with patches so I think that could be an indication that they may go that route. Having more in depth companions.
How do i want them handled? Like in New Vegas.
How i think they will be handled? Like in any other Bethesda games ;(
I played Morrowind, Oblivion,Skyrim and Fallout 3 but i do not recall any interesting companions from these games. (in Morrowind and Oblivion i do not recall any companions at all, i think there were none)
Hopefully Like New Vegas, but if not at least Serana level, but we might end up with Lydia level!.
A companion system with the depth and mechanics of New Vegas would be welcome and I'll be optimistic here and say that what we get will be something similar to that system or at least a passing attempt at it. As was said in an earlier post, they've no doubt taken notice of how well regarded FNV's companions and system is considered the gold standard for their games to this point and will most likely try to replicate it. Successfully or not, only playing the game will tell us for sure.
