Seeming I don't use fast travel at all, how do I gain access to the institute again? Is there an in game device I can use to activate the teleport or button to press, I got back the the transport pad I built but it seems to be slightly, blown up.

You *have* to fast travel. That is the whole point of the courser chip in your pip boy.

There's in game rules saying you can TELEPORT directly there.

If you want to self impose some silly rule, just walk back to the original each time.
