How do I untick dlc on the Playstation?

Post » Tue Jan 07, 2014 6:32 am

I would like to untick the dlc for playstation. I don't like that the vampires kill off the citizens when they spawn. Even one quest npc got killed from a vampire spawn.

I don't like seeing the homeless girls every game. I don't want to go to Solstheim every game.

So for the characters who will not play the dlc, how to untick?

Then retick when I want to play them?

Thanks

You will have to delete the dlc, but then you might not be able to re-load your character and would have to start a new one. I play on xbox but I am figuring that it would be the same process. When you are ready then just reload the dlc

You have to completely uninstall Skyrim then. Then reinstall Skyrim. When you do that, you're left with the original game. No DLC for any character. Then when you want, you download and install the DLC again.

It's under Game Data Utility I think. It should be Skyrim and Skyrim Update.

DO NOT DELETE YOUR SAVES.

Actually, if you delete the DLC, your current character will be probably not work anymore.

Well I don't want to redownload.. I do have the disc.. 59.00 for the ultimate or something.. Does that mean that the whole thing will install even if I uninstall?

I have uninstalled many times before and reinstalled without paying again, hopefully you can do that too.

No I mean I have the ultimate disk here. It has everything on the disk. But will this disk also re-install everything and not just the base game?

You think wrong.

It is possible to disable DLC on the PS3.

In you XMB, go to the PSNetwork tab, Account Management, System Activation, PS3 System, Game, highlight disable then Click.

This disables DLC for all games though, not just Skyrim.

If you want to just do it for Skyrim, you need to go into Game Date Utility and delete the DLC. This can cause problems though with characters that have items from DLC, or have done DLC quests. Though not necessarily effects from DLC events (like vampires killing NPC's in cities...they'll still be dead though).

Now that is a horse of a different color since technically that content is not DLC, that is a physical copy. That might not be possible to do since it's all-in-one.

You have the Legendary Edition?? If so, the just uninstall your dlc for the Dawnguard. Keep your saves, as suggested, and go from there. If it asks you if you want to continue to load said character, say yes, and go from there. You will loose everything you earned / gained from Dawnguard. Then make a new save.

So it is somewhat different on the PS3. I played on it for about 2 months and could not remember.

it's not different, this is just something extra that the PS3 can do instead of just deleting files. Saves a lot of time, and I don't think that this was the original intention of the feature, but it does work quite nice.

I forget when this feature came about, but it was sometime in the past year or two iirc.

There are ways other than this to manipulate the files, but you'll need to go elsewhere to get that information where the spreading of it isn't restricted.

I looked for a way to do this yesterday. Pressing triangle (options) rendered nothing.. No option for uninstalling.

Try asking in this thread and see if you can find a solution unless another PS3 player can help.

This isn't something you would do in-game. You would do it from your XMB.

On Xbox, I uninstall the Dawnguard DLC until I am ready to use it. That in mind, once I start the DLC, I never enter a town or city until I am done, just to be safe. I use merchants at Dawnguard or Volkihar Castle to sell off things.

And don't worry, nowadays you can uninstall the DLC and continue playing your save file - even if you're in the middle of the questline. It'll just remove some Dawnguard-related stuff from your inventory. There's probably bugs and glicthes associated, but I never ran across them myself.
