How to use console to kill Ulfric

Post » Wed Sep 04, 2013 9:14 am

Long story short, I am trying to kill ulfric but don't want to do the whole CW questline. I have tried using the console codes to adv quest to the point in battle of windhelm where I can kill him or he is dead, but I can't get it to work. Anybody else ever done this? I don't care what kind of mess it leaves in the journal, just want to get it done.

There should be a way to use it to "de-essential" the character if not through console commands than through the creation kit.

you can't just set essential 0 on him via the console. I have never used the creation kit, but I might have to go that route...

You could download the mod "Become High King". You could kill all the Jarls if you wanted.

That is also another option, and potentially interesting one story wise.

Are you sure you used the correct console command? I de-essentialed Ulfric before without issues.

Well that might be interesting for future characters but not this one. I wanted to just have her sneak into the castle and just kill him, or just have him dead. She has no interest in being ruler of skyrim or doing the MQ, etc....

Are you sure you're using the right ID when using set essential? Make sure you're using the baseid and not the refid

setessential 0001327E 0

: )

That's Tullius' ID. :P Ulfric's is 1414D.

I think that was on purpose. He/she is a Stormcloak supporter after all.

Sneaky. I wouldn't know, I never paid much attention to remembering which side people support.

I think he(and Tullius) are pretty hard-coded during certain stages of the CW quests/MQ.

Just knock him out and and then markfordelete him. And then Role-play it off.

I was going to say that and as for the mod i plan on using it but when its been awhile so any bugs or problems will be fixed after all ive got money piling up with nothing to spend it on. i could afford 200,000 for my campaign an still be a filthy stinking rich bosmer.

I believe you need more than one code to un-essential Ulfric.

^I don't know. I only used the "setessential" command on Ulfric once and he always dies. Even after transferring the save to the 360.

I think you only need the others if you encounter the other "versions" of him, which you won't unless you do the CW.

okay, setessential actually worked. I thought I had done that before and it didn't. I also marked for delete on his corpse. at any rate I guess she won't be doing the mq, unless I use the console to skip to the appropriate place.

You should do the Season unending quest first... Then kill him when he least expects it.
