How to use BB in custom race

Post » Thu Mar 11, 2010 9:16 am

I want to make a custom "vanilla" elf race that uses the wood elf Better Body but with the same hight as the Dunmer, plus using some of their heads, but I cannot find a tutorial on how to do it, so any pointers would be appreciated, plus I wanted to try to have glow in the dark eyes so what would I have to do?

the easiest thing to do would be to just adjust the height in the cs (character->race) there you can make your wood elves just higher. if you want to make a new race go there as well, set a new race and use the bb bodyparts of wood elves and adjust the height as well.

to make glow eyes: best is to find a head mesh that already has glow eyes. search for heads using the same mesh and put the glowing texture up to each in nifskope.

Here are three:

First deals with setting up stats. Second is entirely text but deals with the whole process from planning to grabbing the meshes and textures you want to use and setting them up in new folders. You'll substitute the single BB's mesh for the parts in the last tutorial but still need to define all parts of the body "ankle, knee, etc" separately.

Faces are easily copied over if you just want to use the Wood Elf faces from Better Heads but if you wanted to switch with the Dunmer heads they'll need more work copying the meshes and retexturing the heads (can be as simple as color matching the WE heads). For eyes that glow there are a few ways to go - there's a way to glow map eyes in Nifskope I think, I haven't used it so I can't recommend it. Or you could find a head that already has what you're looking for (there should be half a dozen glow mapped WE heads out their already) but if that's not the look you want then you can retexture a head of another race that has the glow you want but not the right skin color.

Vampire heads are tricky! They need to be set up exactly right or they won't work. Pay very careful attention to your naming conventions when you put them in and test them out to make sure they show up properly in game!

Thanks! those tutorials are exactly what I needed beacsue I havent used the TES Editor in ages, after Im done I′ll probably upload my races somewhere; they are going to be plain vanilla elves, the classic D&D elves.

Never played D&D but I'm sure that there are some out there who've only been waiting to see them realized in Morrowind. Good luck.
