How will Final Kill Animations work for Mages?

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 5:48 pm

Since they said that people can do a final kill animation, how will it work for Mages?

Because when that came in mind, I don't think they can really do anything, like in Dragon Age: Origins.

I loved being the Mage, but seeing those special kill animations with all the warrior did made me feel kinda jealous.

So, will there be a final kill animation for Mages?
If so, what would happen?

Oh..and even more thought provoking...if the conjured creature gets the kill...does the creatuer get the move instead of the mage, or does the mage steal its minion's glory?

Hmm, I do wonder if certain creatures have finishing kills of their own.

Deadly Reflex mod added Mage finishes that burned your opponent to ashes or froze them, it was AWESOME.

Yes, there will be, but I can only imagine what it'd be... but whatever it is I fully trust it'll be badass knowing its coming from Bethesda.

Paralyze could make for an interesting "final attack" spell. Like if their health/stamina are low, instead of a 3-second stun you can paralyze them for a few hours and leave them there. And take their clothes and famous Cloudcleaver axe of course.

Possibly a combination. The mage points at the enemy, the summoned creature looks at the mage, turns back to the enemy, then devastates them.

IT would be interesting if the touch spells had kill animations. Like, say you finish them off with a fire touch spell. You get to see your character plunge his fingers into the eyes of the enemy and burn them out.

Like other elderscrolls, they won't need them, cuz they'll be recieving them most of the time.

pretty sure it'll just be on death effects, like frozen, or turning to a charred corpse, or spasming on the ground.

I hope soul trap deaths get a cool effect of the sould being torn from it's body, then svcked up by the player as it claws the ground to return to it's body, screaming out with an ethereal voice.

i just took it too far i think...

no matter what happens, I'm sure gamesas will do a great job at it. :)

Turn them into a charred skeleton, like Fable.

An inside man has told me when you use lighting on your victim they scream out, "Father!" Your character than says, "With each passing moment you make yourself more my servant."

When you say 'How will it work for Mages', You mean mages initiating a 'final kill' animation on their target, right? (not how will they die when killed.)

There are no mages in TES(Oblivion) I thought... just a free for all mash up of spells, abilities, and combat moves for all characters. (unless they've changed it in Skyrim).

'Mage' kills could involve spells that only work when the target is too vulnerable to resist, or be delivered by summoned minion, or even a melee attack by the mage... though while typing this, I couldn't help envision a concussed warrior held by magical restraint as an occult robed Mr.Burns (of the Simpsons) uselessly strained to stab at the warrior's chest with his 2 lbs. dagger. :lmao:

I'm hoping it's something similar to this, Otherwise, we may simply not see them for mages at all.

As an aside: Would someone briefly explain what distinguishes a mage PC in these games from any other PC, (besides wearing robes)?
