How will we jump higher?

Post » Thu Jul 28, 2011 2:52 pm

With acrobatics gone will it be possible to have your player jump higher? Or will it be like fallout where you can only just so high and it's like that forever.

Jump height and run speeds are locked.

Well the bethesda team has talked several times about how ppl levitating out of scenarios has made them struggle with ideas for set pieces so even after oblivion where ppl could jump out of things and onto areas they werent supposed to get on in the first place im sure after fallout they thought they found a sweet spot so the removing Of acrobatics is only natural...that way they have a set jump hieght to make scenarios with

Jump height and run speeds are locked.

That's not confirmed. Run speed will probably be effected through stamina increases, but jump height may be locked.

There will be a sprint button, which you can run faster- I can only imagine that if you're in sprint, you'll be able to jump further

there is a dragon shout that makes you sprint really fast, maybe there is one that lets you jump really high, or like a rocket.

*Sigh* Out of all of the changes I hate this one the most. Run speed and jump height BETTER NOT BE LOCKED!

Jump height is probably fixed, but hearing talk about roof to roof jumping makes me think it's for the best.

As the Todd and his crew has mentioned many times before, perks will fill the holes from the removed and previous skills. Aaaand that is a good thing.

You have to admit, the acrobatics and athletics skills provided pretty meagre rewards for absolutly no effort. In order for acrobatics to be worth it, they had to have the magical jump 15 feet up, go 30 feet forward, change your mind and defy physics back to your starting postion. Reaching 130 acrobatics in Oblivion (one of the few skills that wasn't capped at 100) was silly and unrealistic. Oblivion Jumps have become a running joke amongst my friends.

Nope, it was totally realistic for Nirn and was lore friendly.

Don't worry, perks and perhaps the great Khajiits have something in store.

I am starting to hate jumping in video games. They should make it drain endurance just so people can't endlessly jumping for hours on end.

This is exactly what is going on. If anything the leveling process should work exactly like the mod Realistic Leveling for Oblivion. It takes your skills and every so often it adds to your attributes. So skills increase their associated attribute, but also other attributes that are relative to them.

However, that isn't the point of the thread.

Yes, Athletics and Acrobatics were removed. Likely the things bonuses these provided ie dodging, increased run speed and jump height, jumping on water. Will instead be delegated to perks. The only problem is, where to put them? Will there be a general perk menu that isn't associated with skills? Dodging could go in the one handed weapon skills since that is easily associated with them, while two handed is the more tank style absorb hits, but what about the others?

It's a good thing that a sensible gradual process gets replaced by a heavenly light shining upon a character and granting him a capability to do something from one moment to the next that with sufficient training, common sense says he should have developed over time anyway?
If we take the example of twins who do everything together and always engage in the same activities. And one day, while one of them relaxes, the other goes and engages in five minutes of activity, which make him level up and all of a sudden allow him to do something which his twin cannot do? And said twin gets up, does something else for five minutes, and suddenly gains a capability the first twin doesn't have at all?

That is a good thing - how?

How stupid is that then. If I have attributes, show them to me. I can handle simple numerical representations.

Talking about Morrowind, the constant loading screens were awful on Xbox when it came to high acrobatics.
