How will we pick up items?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:53 am

I noticed a thread covering the controller layout. But I missed an important key.

Below is the button layout.

LB - VATS
RB - Bash / Power Attack / [hold] for Grenade
LT - Aim / Block
RT - Attack
Back - Toggle POV
Start - Pause
L - Move
L - [click] Sprint
R - Look
R - [click] Sneak
Y - Jump
B - Pipboy
X - Ready / Reload
A - Activate
PAD - Favorites
PAD + A - Select Favorite

Where is the "interact" button? The one that allowed us to actually pick up items and enemies?

It looks like sprint took its place , I will be sorely disappointed if it is missing from the console version.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

probably is the same button as something else, like X or A, u just need to look at something to interact with or loot it, so the function can change. Isnt something new.

A, since that's Activate. It's the same thing it was in FO3, Skyrim, etc. It activates doors, activates conversation, activates Picking Things Up, etc.

Controller 2: B - Interact with items :P

I'd assume your Activate button

If you're referring to the 'grab' function it will most probably be like Skyrim, where you hold down the activate button (A - Xbox One / X - PS4). For PC there will either be a designated key or you hold down E (activate).

Likely the A button or the X button.

I believe I saw in the E3 presentation that when your cursor is over an object/person you will get options to interact with it using the 4 buttons a/b/x/y What option will be dependent on the object of interest.

Activate is usually what interacts with world objects. Opening doors, containers, entering terminals, pressing buttons, flipping switches, is all under whatever button is assigned to Activate. same was used for picking up items in previous games.

Activate means interact. That's why furniture and quest items are under the 'Activator' section in the Geck.

As for holding, it will most certainly be from holding activate, since FO4 is using Skyrim's engine and that is how Skyrim was bound.

To EVERYONE pointing out that A is activate, thank you but since I mentioned that in my opening post repeating that information was not really helpful. ;)

I was talking about "interact or hold" actually picking things up. Not transferring them into our inventory.

But thanks to the few guys that understood what i meant. I played oblivion -> Fo3->Nv on console where left stick was interact which allowed you to move objects.

I played FO3 and skyrim on the PC so It was still E on both.

I got my answer. Tap a to activate hold a to interact or move. As long as its still in game im happy.
