How Will the Game Start?

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 9:35 pm

How do you think the game will start? This is a thread for pure speculation.

Will you start out as a prisoner who gets released like in the past ES games? And if so, what happens next?

Be imaginative.

I can imagine it starting off similarly to Morrowind. You get taken off of a ship, go through census/excise, and are given instructions to go see the Blade guy in some settlement.

It's 99% guaranteed to start out with you as a prisoner who gets released or escapes....just like ALL of the other TES games (not just the past few). It's a tradition that likely won't change.

Starts out Morrwindian, then to Oblivion. You're arriving in Skyrim, talk to the Census and Excise fellows, and get released into the small town to explore a bit. As you try to leave, it asks you to review your choices, and make any changes. Alright, you think, time to explore the rest of the land. But then a dragon swoops down and destroys the town, and another comes, and another. You try to fight, but you are easily overcome, knocked unconscious. Then, a day or so later, you wake up in a cave several miles away from the ruins of Tutorial Town. You look up, and there is the wise old face of Esbern, asking if you're okay, surprised you even survived.

prisoner i suppose. im happy with that, except the fact that every single hero we play have been in prison, which is kinda weird. but its a good way to start the game nonetheless

That sounds like a cool beginning.

Well since it says you start out with the nords turning against each other, I just don't know. Maybe you are a prisoner and there is a fight and the wall gets broken and you can escape out. I don't know, maybe you start out in that one Blades dudes house or I DON'T KNOW D:

Probably prison or being left for dead both of which are horrible Clichés.

I liked the Prison starts. You could imagine why your character was there and allowed your character to be new and fresh. ^_^

I hope not. Starting the MQ should be optional, just like Morrowind and Oblivion.

I'm hoping for a very Morrowind-esque beginning. You step out of the ship, get asked a couple questions (basically establish name, race, appearance), and since there are no classes, you're done.

I'm sure we'll start in a prison, but we get released upon being summoned by the Greybeards because of a "vision" they had or something along those lines, or Esbern (I forget his name) will pull some strings to have us released.

Someone will say "Wake up. You were dreaming. I think we've reached Skyrim, I'm sure they'll let us go. Quiet, here comes the guard". I just made that up now.

You wake up on a long, cold tundra. It's snowing heavily and the fog limits your vision.

You then look around, realising that you are in a cage, which is being carried by 4 Nords with another 10 Nords around the cage acting as bodyguards.

In the fog, you see shapes appear. After a while, you start recognising those shapes as rough mercenaries, but the man leading the group seems to stand out from the others. He's more majestic, noble and confident.

He's also holding a Katana.

Since its civil war, perhaps you start out as a prisoner of war, or taken captive from your village by the enemy and esbern rescues you

Hi. I have the answer.

11-11-11 is not only a date. It's other thing relationated with the war's world. When we start the game, this number appears, and then can see the shines of the sun into the numbers. and we can heard a lot of noise, swords crashing etc.. We are confused. Who I am? Why is this date here? It's this:

http://www.museodelarmablanca.com/tiendas/catalogo/images/cascos_medivales.jpg

Imagine that the helmet has got six "ones". Them, we open it, and see the huge, enormous land of a war. We are a solider riding our horse between the biggest army we can imagine. It's the Civil war, and we have to fight. Like in "LotR: The Return of the King". The most amazing recreation in a videogame. Finally, the day changes to dark, the clouds became red and the dragons appear. They are here.

This will be the game start.

I hope it doesn't throw you straight into the main quest like Oblivion did. I generally create multiple characters, and only choose one of them to be the hero of the game, completing the MQ. I don't want the others to have to kill dragons or be heroes from the off.

I'd like to see a beginning which allows you to start playing the game proper almost immediately. You climb off a boat perhaps, a new migrant to Skyrim, and are given the option of joining the sailors for a drink. You can refuse, skipping the tutorial, or accept, where you get into a pub brawl and learn some combat basics, chat up the bar maid and learn some speechcraft, mix some drinks to learn alchemy, etc... the MQ can emerge with a subtle letter, perhaps, or something equally unobtrusive.

Could be worse. There's the cliche Star Wars/DnD trope of starting in a cantina/tavern. :P

You wake up in a pool of mead, and you feel sore all over, you turn to ur right and see adoring fan lying next to you asleep half-naked..

THEN you wake up and realize it was just a dream, ur in a prisonercamp together with some other nords, suddenly the camp gets raided by a group of attackers, and the guard lets you escape, you have to find a way out and travel to the nearest village.

since there is a civil war going on, maybe we're a prisoner of war due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time, then the civil war end and you are released in the middle of no where

It will start in prison and the town has a disturbance of some sort and the guards talk to the each other and run out and hear a crash that breaks the jail cells of you and the prisoners and you and them escape or some escape.

Your display pic is Daggerfall.... Yet you forget you didn't start Daggerfall as a prisoner. You merely started it in a dungeon after a shipwreck.

...that would mean that your character would already have picked sides in the civil war, removing the possibility of choosing sides later.

I liked Daggerfalls beginning. No prison beginning there, but a pretty plausible story. Granted, a bit clichéd, but still...
