How will this thing affect Skyrim?

Post » Tue Jul 19, 2011 5:20 pm

Hey guys, i just saw on someone's signature a link to a certain thing that has surfaced recently. It's the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hytigOSjJxc (Watch this video before posting) And as you can see, no one will ever be able to upload video game content , except for some exceptions.. And i've been wondering....How will this affect Skyrim if it is approved? Do you agree with this? Share your thoughts below.

It won't really effect a game like elder scrolls. FPSs? [censored] yes, it will screw them over.

That's because everyones posting in your one

It will not affect Skyrim Lets plays because it is popular outside of USA, and people from outside USA will upload the videos. (Let's face it, this bills about money, and it costs more money to extradite someone than the fine they would get)

And only an idiot would actually pass and enforce that bill.

The bill has a high probability of going through, mainly because of the support of those hollywood companies that don't give a cheeseburguer about games. And from what i hear, the bill is going to be active everywhere. That includes our world, tamriel, hyrule, azeroth and everything. So it's kinda possible that it'll hurt skyrim somehow. I often rely on Let's play videos to examine the games i buy.

Do you know of any highly popular video sharing sites that are not based in the US?

The United states congress does have power over the major video hosting sites based in the United States, prime example would be Youtube.

Won;t have an effect because it won;t even pass. Just because it has a name, doesn't give the bill any true merritt. Ther only way it would win would be if the corporations were in any way corupted, and we all know how clean those corporations are.

It would have some effect. With how broad its termed we might not even be able to see videos for peoples mods.

Even if this passed, game developers would work to get this ammended, because youtube videos of gameplay good for them, as are community support and community videos.

im pretty sure it was allready declined because the supreme court found it in the lines of the first amendment(freedom of speech, press, religion, etc). its a way to express yourself, and is therefore protected by the constitution.
