How will you play the game at first?

Some great suggestions here, I've got some neat ideas from posts for a new build :)

You know I think the absolute best thing about how the new system will work is that you **don't have to choose you class beforehand**.

I think I'm gonna scrounge some money to begin with, go to a shop and have a "fitting session" where I try on swords, staffs(?), spells and see how it all looks, then choose the coolest looking and feeling setup and roll with that. :celebration:

 ^Like this.

Haven't ever thought about doing this before, 'cos back in Morrowind, I'd gotten so familiar with all armor types, I knew exactly where to get the good items. And Oblivion I just worked with what ever had available (steel armor for the early levels as I recall), and it kinda grated me how all the armor sets made you look like a slightly chunky tin can.

But with Skyrim, totally fresh start. The game won't have been around long enough for UESP to update their info on it, no one's gonna know where to do this, buy that etc. Gonna be freaking awesome. Fresh start for everyone. I agree, probably first few characters are gonna be experiments, just cruising, taking in the awesome sights, and buying some coooooool armor. ftw.

Dual mage, ofc. Magic is for the win.

Same way I start playing in every RPG: the plate-wearing juggernaut just because it's the most straightforward. Run in, hit some stuff till it falls over, repeat.

This tends to be my second or third character in most RPGs. I always like to make a magic-based character to see what it has to offer, and if I find it boring or uninteresting I'll try others.

Mix of bow and magic most likely.

I'm gonna play a Nord who specializes in long swords, heavy armor, and some magic. I'll avoid stealth almost entirely. I'm really gonna play as what I think the Dragonborn should be.

There's no excitement if you don't create your unique class in a TES game.
Who needs your average fragile mage or unintelligent barbarian?

It's TES that enables you to create a spell shooting tank or a stealthy war axe wielder.
Oh,or was these before perks came?

First character will have a Sabre in one hand, torch in the other, light armor, no spells. Skilled in stealth, one-handed (Blade spec major, dagger minor), light armor, athletics, speechcraft, block (Parry), and security.

Not an assassin or thief though.

I was thinking a cross between a mage and a thief. I'm not sure exactly what the skills are or how many you can max out in a single playthrough, but narrowing it down to three it would be something like Illusion, Destruction, and Archery/Marksmanship. Think of a shadow, striking hard and fast before disappearing.

Clearly you haven't understood how the perks work in Skyrim.

There's no reason to believe that unique "classes" are no longer possible. if you wear heavy armor and use only magic for combat, that's what you'll get better at and that's what you'll pick perks for.
