My first character is always the same guy, he started his career in Morrowind, went to Cyrodiil to beat up some uppity gods and now he's off to Skyrim because he heard they had good beer or something, I don't know. The point is, I play the same character the first time, every time, he's a little something like this.
He's a Dunmer mercenary, favouring swords (Possibly dual wielding) and lighter armour for increased mobility and speed, with destruction magic on the side to kill people with style or just get out of a mess.
He sees moral values more as vague guidelines than actual rules, and is dedicated above all to self preservation and furthering his own interests.
That means he'll do pretty much anything as long as it pays, but he won't hesitate to stab you in the back (Literally in many cases) if he feels it benefits him enough.
He's never really an [censored] though, he doesn't go looking to make enemies, he knows that being well liked is in his best interests.
He normally chooses to be a decent guy, but he has a tendency to get a bit greedy and power hungry and if he feels that the risk of getting caught is worth it he won't hesitate to lie, murder or steal.
Basically, he's self serving, but he does have a good side to him. I don't consider him an evil character, but as an oppurtunist who takes what he wants and does what he feels is necessary without letting society dictate his behaviour, he makes his own rules and will do anything it takes to get the job done. If he is being paid to do something, he does it. He passes no judgement on his employer and he doesn't let anything get between him and the reward.
