How will you play the game at first?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:24 am

You didn't mention Battlemage (Spellsword), who's similar to the Paladin, but rather focuses his magic on not taking damage in the first place rather than recovering from it. Ways to do that: deal damage quicker with the aid damaging spells to not let them have a chance to deal more damage than they should, protective magic, and using your surroundings to your advantage (i.e. don't rush at the enemy like a madman).

I'm not completely sure. Here is my choices:

As a Fighter: Most likely one of these.

Nord: [Juggernaut] I can be knee deep in the conflict as far as role playing is concerned as I have a vested interest in the civil conflict no matter what side I choose.
Dunmer: Good fighter and Destruction skills. Being fire resistant with a bunch of dragons around ain't a bad idea. Possibly a Battlemage type character.
Redguard: Always a good melee character. In Oblivion I designed my Redguard to level very slowly, which will be hard w/o familiarity so this is the least likely

As a Mage:
Breton. I always make pure Mage characters female, and I don't usually make female characters the first time out.

So most likely a Nord or Dunmer Melee with some Magic to back it up.

So, after making a fail thread because I haven't read up on the latest information, I decided that I'd make an attempt to redeem my self in making a thread that actually makes sense.

I know that my first character will be a pew pew machine, using all sorts of cool looking magics and such, though to expand a bit I'm probably going to pick an " element " such as Frost or Fire and go through with that.

Robin Hood all the way, baby.

A loincloth and an axe is all my character needs.
He will ruin your day. And maybe the rest of your life with it...

"HOW WILL YOU PLAY THE GAME AT FIRST?"

First playthrough--with my hands
Second playthrough--with my feet for added challenge
Third playthrough--could be tricky, but I'll give it a shot :hubbahubba:

Sorry couldn't help myself. :shakehead:

None of your options. I will be a knight of nobility. Thrown into the barbaric and chaotic lands of Skyrim, I will bring order and justice back and instill the code and laws of the empire.

Definite Ninja for me, though with a dagger not two-hander ;)

Assuming of course I can install it in good conscience.

I'll be Robin Hood in the sense that he was a jack-of-all-trades. A swordsman, a marksman, a staff-fighter, an unarmed combatant, and a knife-fighter. Just no magic though

After reading a lot of your posts and looking at the results, I've come up with some other ideas. I'm loving the idea of a Robin Hood mixed with a Pew Pew Machine.

Light armor or clothing and a sword, I'll try other things later or I'll just try them all in one game.

My first character is always the same guy, he started his career in Morrowind, went to Cyrodiil to beat up some uppity gods and now he's off to Skyrim because he heard they had good beer or something, I don't know. The point is, I play the same character the first time, every time, he's a little something like this.

He's a Dunmer mercenary, favouring swords (Possibly dual wielding) and lighter armour for increased mobility and speed, with destruction magic on the side to kill people with style or just get out of a mess.
He sees moral values more as vague guidelines than actual rules, and is dedicated above all to self preservation and furthering his own interests.
That means he'll do pretty much anything as long as it pays, but he won't hesitate to stab you in the back (Literally in many cases) if he feels it benefits him enough.
He's never really an [censored] though, he doesn't go looking to make enemies, he knows that being well liked is in his best interests.
He normally chooses to be a decent guy, but he has a tendency to get a bit greedy and power hungry and if he feels that the risk of getting caught is worth it he won't hesitate to lie, murder or steal.

Basically, he's self serving, but he does have a good side to him. I don't consider him an evil character, but as an oppurtunist who takes what he wants and does what he feels is necessary without letting society dictate his behaviour, he makes his own rules and will do anything it takes to get the job done. If he is being paid to do something, he does it. He passes no judgement on his employer and he doesn't let anything get between him and the reward.

Barbarian

I was this in Morrowind and Oblivion. I like one hand Axes and Maces all while the other hand holds a shield.

I voted Ninja, but honestly, I'm probably going to be a dual-wielder with Heavy Armor. Dual-Wield swords. Dual wielding has been my favorite fighting style in every game I've played as long as I can remember. And swords have also been my favorite type of weapon for as long as I can remember. And heavy armor looks sixy. My second character will probably be a ninja. :)

my first playthrough for skyrim will be a big nord with a axe and shield combo. this is great because of the shield bash. i will always have at least a 6 pack of mead in my inventory. the only food i will carry will be meat, no fruits or vegetables since those are for panzies, women and little children. i usuallly just use my own name......but not for my first nord. he will only have one syllable in his first and last name. he will also be blonde and blue eyed even though im not. this is going to be more fun that my mentally challenged orc character. after that i usually play stealthy characters but that might change if shield bash works well.

My general approach will likely be -

Stealth/Illusion
Find most favorable position to attack/defend from
Poison arrow sneak attack ideal start
Magic to attempt to keep them at a distance
Small blade if/when they get close
Illusion + Athletics if I'm in over my head
Restoration/Alchemy(Healing pots) to recuperate any damage afterward

Pretty much fight as dirty/cheap as possible and run like a coward when it doesn't work. :)

You and I fight eerily similar. :ninja: As in, exactly the same. :D

Yep, totally going for juggernaut. Armor as heavy as it gets, and a decent sized shield and a pretty big one handed sword. They should totally incorporate damage threshold from Fallout.

I'm starting to think about a different playstyle... like maybe, a caster that freezes enemies and drains all of their life force. Basically I guess a necromancer with more armor + less melee damage ( in oblivion necromancers favored conjuring their own melee weapons ).

Normally I start off as a sword/shield juggernaut, but this time I might start with my mage character. I'm kind of anxious to see how spells and hopefully spell creation work out in Skyrim.

Heavy armor with sword and shield, like the warden in the DA:O sacred ashes trailer. Not a juggernaut though, slick with his shield and longsword.

I'm rather tied between "ninja" and "paladin". Typically I would make characters more like paladins, sword, small shield and some armour with a few spells... then I'll end up sneaking most of the time though, hehe. Voted for ninja. :3

I'll likely try a pure mage out at some point however, which will be a first for me. Most games don't impress me with magic, never as powerful as I feel it "should" be. Hopefully Skyrim will change that though =)

Ranger, well familiar with the dangers and wildlife of Skyrim. A master archer and an expert with the spear and dagger.
