How will you play the game at first?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:35 am

I like to somewhat mix all three playstyles together.

Sneak in and use bow to take a chunk out of enemies HP.
Summon a minion, (I usually used a spell I created with drain health with lots of AOE but not sure how this will work out now)
Pull out enchanted sword and go sephiroth on everyone's [censored]
Soultrap and kill my own minion to recharge my sword

Try and make my Dark Elf like an (ex-)Ordinator. That'll be cool.

I am going to play as a Jack of all trades character. Mainly duel wielding close combat. Archery whenever possible. And a little bit of destruction magic here and there.

I picked a ninja, but i want to be able to take out my opponents with a throwing knife to the neck, or at least a crossbow.

Combination of magic, weapons, and athletics. I play as a bosmer, so I usually use an magic, magic, and a bound longsword, a bow, light armor, and the occasional dagger or throwing stars.

In typical Bethesda game fashion, my character will likely be a: Jack of All Trades, and Master of All.

I like to create a character that kind of fits with the lore of each game I play.

For eg., my Morrowind character (my most developed), initially starts off as a fighter, well rounded in Short blades, hand to hand, athletics, armorer, marksman etc. A kind of lightly armed warrior. He's a dunmer, racial choice because A) Dunmer look pretty cool, and B) It's the home of the Dunmer, personally I like the idea that an Dunmer, born outside his homeland, and viewed as an outlander, was the reincarnate of Lord Nerevar, and returned home to right the wrongs. Ties in with the story a bit more, personally. Eventually, after succeeding in the fighter's guild/legion, he gets pretty good at magic, and stealth (thieves guild/morag tong FTW). The stealth skills really get maxed here, as he progresses in House Hlaalu too, routing out the evil Cammona Tong. He becomes the embodiement of the traditional Dunmer warrior, in all areas of combat (Netch leather armor plus morag tong helm). Finally, after experiencing the world of Morrowind, he returns to Caius Cosades and begins the epic task of discovering who he is, and defeating Dagoth Ur.

In Oblivion, I was an Imperial, imprisoned for crimes I didn't commit, no family, no friends, but possessed of an inner flame to live his own life. Standard legion warrior with shield/sword, bit of magic, but not as much, and joins Dark brotherhood, but has some regret for his actions in the guild. later joins thieves guild to help the poor etc. When first escaping the imperial sewers, he is in denial, unable to believe the emporer entrusted him with this monumental task. He keeps hold of the amulet though, knowing one day he will have to address this epic issue. Finally he starts the main quest etc etc.

For Skyrim, I will be a (unsurprisingly) Nord. Typically, on many run throughs of Morroind, I favour ninja. Shortblades, light armor, marksman, acrobatics/athletics, stealth and illusion. A bit of alchemy and restoration, and mysticism, and uve got a potent Damage dealer. Nimble and lethal Daedric katanas and wakizashis! Love the oriental themed weapons from TESIII). Yet this time, Skyrim being the home of the Nords, I'll be one. In all my gaming, I have always preferred the lighter, more agile, elven type ranger/ninja. But I'm actually very keen to start a nord warrior/barabarian/battlemage. The Nords have great lore, and they are a powerful, forward, tough people. I'm looking forward to carving my enemies up with either 1hander + Shield, dual wield (axes! ) or a great big, skull crushing 2hander. Very exciting. Berserker mode in combat, the slightly bigger character than I would normally not play. Clad in fur armor, plate, chainmail whatever.

Maybe later he'll develop graceful skill in stealth and magical flair. But for now this is enough.

So, after making a fail thread because I haven't read up on the latest information, I decided that I'd make an attempt to redeem my self in making a thread that actually makes sense.

I know that my first character will be a pew pew machine, using all sorts of cool looking magics and such, though to expand a bit I'm probably going to pick an " element " such as Frost or Fire and go through with that.

What I am in oblivion. An argonian mercenary.
AKA no magic, light armour, longsword, shield, arrows and poison if said enemy is difficult.

This is how things usually go down, I make a single sneak attack with my melee weapon, then use illusion to disappear into the shadows & back off a good distance, maybe use acrobatics to get a good vantage point & I may take a shot or two with my bow (though hearing about arrows becoming harder to acquire may stop this completely) still in sneak of course, depending on how detected I am after that I may use illusion again, I like to finish (or if the spell is powerful enough & the enemy is weak enough I can use it first & just kill my enemies in one hidden shot of magic) my enemies with a good destruction spell.

I probably use magic the most out of everything (I use Destruction: hurt, Illusion: disappear, Restoration: heal if necessary, quite a lot) & with the advancements of the magic system using spells on my enemies from the shadows will become even more effective. But I find sneak is my favourite skill to use (acrobatics actually, but there is no confirmation of whether or not its one of the 18 skills, it probably got condensed, atleast I hope & not completely removed). So I guess I'm a bit of a stealth magic player. I can't think of a good name for it...

My usual character. An Orsimer Spellsword (currently using Armourer, Blade, Block, Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, and Restoration in OB). It's quirky, nobody expects it to work. In fairness it's probably a fairly weak character overall, but it's what I have most fun with. I tend to mix Light and Heavy armours, and Enchant what looks good with Shield to get a good DR. Single wield Longsword, using the offhand for Magicks.

I am going to be a Paladin. It fit with both my normal playstyle and the fact that they are goodie two-shoes, which I normally play :) Still don't have the FO3 achivement for bad charma :(

I'll play ninja/robin hood mix.
Assassin,ranger,hunter etc.
I always do.....but eventually i will play a paladin type....then will try a mage type ( but i will see what magic will be like first ).
But i'll play the game many times over, and most of my playthroughs will be assassin/ranger types.
Bow,duel daggers and so on.

Juggernauts ftw. Coolest thing to do in an rpg game like the elder scrolls is to save up money to buy that next piece of equipment.

Some great suggestions here, I've got some neat ideas from posts for a new build :)

You know I think the absolute best thing about how the new system will work is that you **don't have to choose you class beforehand**.

I think I'm gonna scrounge some money to begin with, go to a shop and have a "fitting session" where I try on swords, staffs(?), spells and see how it all looks, then choose the coolest looking and feeling setup and roll with that. :celebration:

She will be a seidkona, using her wits, various magicks, and whatever else she can get her hands on, in order to survive.

As far back as her memory can take her, there were those dreams, with visions of dragons, and they spoke.

She listened, but did not understand.

Her unrelenting desire is to know of what the dragons speak, to learn their nearly forgotten tounge.

Perhaps she is the one... unaware that she is dragonborn

First time through I normally bring out my Redguard juggernaut with an Atronach Birthsign - magic is just for healing and to absorb a bit of spell damage - I like my Redguard to spy out the land until about level 10 when he will be retired and out comes my fragile Breton Mage who now has a heads up where not to poke her nose in too early

I voted for the very bottom category...."something not mentioned" or whatever it says. I honestly have no idea what my very first attempt at Skyrim will be like. My first Oblivion game (Lady Anne) only lasted a few hours. It was pretty much just me walking my character around being blown away by how awesome the graphics, combat, and gameplay were. That's what I imagine Skyrim willl be like for me. Something between an experiment and just being wowed by everything.

Off-topic; Yeah! post #100! ;D
